All Ogle, No Cash -- It's Not Just Annoying, It's Un-American
Discussion of episodes currently airing in Un-American locations (anything that's aired in Australia is fair game), as well as anything else the Un-Americans feel like talking about or we feel like asking them. Please use the show discussion threads for any current-season discussion.

I think Pharlap is the classic Aussie poach. THE ENORMOUS HORSE MAY HAVE BEEN A KIWI, BUT WE'VE GOT HIS OVER-SIZED HEART!!!
Just saw Dirty Girls last night. And all I can say is ``Phew!!'' (wipes sweat off brow in a non-taunting-of-Australians-way)
Argh! *weeps* Two more repeats to get through...
Re: The new Angel: I pretty much loved it. (This is essentially what I posted the other night then deleted for fear of taunting...)
I love how it tilted back toward the detective genre at the start - we haven't seen much of that lately. And it was really suspenseful. I haven't felt so tense watching Angel for ages. I cannot believe the young girl died! I was so sure Connor would change his mind, or Angel would save the day. I love how this show can still pull the rug out from under me. And then wrap me in the rug and throw me in a river. With a waterfall at the end.
From what I've read in the archives, the derision was mostly directed at THE BIGGEST RETCON OF ALL TIME. Or at least, people were having trouble swallowing it, as am I. I don't like that I had to wait almost a whole season to have my disgust for the Cordy=higher being storyline to be validated. And my brain is imploding trying to figure out how much of the last three and a half seasons is going to subsumed under this Evil Plan thing.
And now, my own personal archival Inside Out COMM...
Nutty - I love how, now in one gigantic asspull, they're explaining years of asspulls at once! It's amazing and death-defying! Next, they'll actually make sense of The Powers That Be!
Amber B. - The blood of a freaking virgin. My *cat* knows that if someone asks for the blood of a virgin they must be evil.
Gandalfe - *SIGH* This episode (particularly Connor's idiocy) has reminded me of an old, old saying: Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

Betsy HP: Here's the big thing that made me cranky about Wednesday's episode:
Skip the-Macguffin-demon reappeared and sneered at all of those stupid plot decisions. "No...Cordelia was chosen to become a higher being because she's such a pure, radiant saint....puh-leeze!" Well, that's what I said at the time. It was stupid. Yet I've been expected to believe for a year, in spite of my better judgment, that this was the truth, and now the writers are laughing at me for attempting to do so. Furthermore, most of the stupid plot decisions that were made, as well as much of the characters' backstory, is actually the result of a Cunning Evil Plan. So it was all predestined, it was just predestined by the bad guys. Doesn't that explain everything?
This wasn't like *Fool For Love*, where they brilliantly rewrote the existing continuity in a way that made it deeper. This was "Well, we made some really bad choices, so now we're doing a reset. More fool you!"
ETA: I was going to try and get rid of that floating Dark Helmet but I think I kind of like it....
I loved the retcon! I like being made to feel like a fool.
And stop being mean about Connor, you bunch of meanies.
See,
this
is why I don't read the show threads. I'm oversensitive.
Oh, I don't necessarily agree about Connor - I took it more as confusion and emotional screwed-uppedness than stupidity. But, gee, the snark makes me giggle!
But Betsy HP's post pretty much describes how I felt. Although there was some 'Oh, cool!' in there, it was kind of swamped by 'Well, now I feel like an idiot.'
Oh, I also loved
evil Skip.
Oh yeah, that was great. I hope his character appears again in flash backs or something, because he's a blast.
And Emlah, I've changed my mind, the have/have-not thing is brilliant.
I think it's brilliant in that it has totally shaken up the house, and some of the interaction has been hilarious. But I'm also finding it a bit cringy - that whole thing with Jamie moving into Chrissie's bed made me flick channels until it was over.
Meanwhile, Dan is growing on me more and more. Have you read his diary entry about the have/have-not thing? He seems like such a nice guy. What are your thoughts on his 'strategic' nominations? I think it's just his way of getting through the nominations as quickly as possible, that he's doing it in an ironic kind of 'Can't argue with this, can you BB?' way. Do you think he's playing the game?
See, I always liked Connor, or wanted to like him, and then
a couple of episodes from the end of this last season, my patience ran out.
Edit: and now you've moved on to the Aussie BB talk and I look a little crazy....
And stop being mean about Connor, you bunch of meanies.
Yeah!
Ahem.
(Love my Bon Bon.)
I'm with Angus on this one; I thought the "retcon" was a great con.
That is, of course, if it
was
a retcon. I mean, it is possible some people are being too comic book guyish about it. I'll only believe it is a retcon when Josh Sweden or Tim Minotaur sally forth and admit to such a felony. Until that time, I'll view it as the culmination of a
story arc
begun when Doyle died. Very Babylon 5-ish, dudes!
