Into The Woods
continues to be a terrible episode, but on the plus side it does get rid of Riley (for a while). But OMG shut UP Xander why is this even your business.
(Before Riley left in the helicopter, A suggested that Xander and Buffy should just swap SOs - Xander is way more impressed by Riley being the Bestest Most Manly Man Ever than Buffy is, and Riley would for sure be happier with someone who really
appreciates
that he shows up early so he gets to be Cowboy Guy. And Anya fits in perfectly with Buffy's type of "used to be evil and is now just awkward" so everybody wins.)
The HSQ of Drusilla returning to re-vamp Darla holds up SO WELL, as does Angel letting a bunch of lawyers die in a wine cellar. Angel S2 you guys. It's so good.
I occasionally see the Ben-is-Glory jokes continuing here and there and it makes me happy every time
I saw this one on FB over the holidays: [link]
I think I like this better than the alternate ending for As You Were that was proposed in these parts back in the day.

You must be so. proud. Like, could you
ever
have a parental doubt again? Permanent pride.
I've been remiss in my rewatch-reporting duties!
Last night was
Spiral,
which remains as much of a hot mess as it ever was. There's just so much heavy lifting this ep has to do to move the plot into the endgame that it doesn't at all function as a standalone hour of television.
The Body
and
Forever
were both devastating, which, of course they were. Aeryn commented more than once this season that they wanted to go back to when the Scoobies were dealing with supernatural/metaphorical problems, and....yeah.
Crush
is a difficult ep, knowing what comes later in the Spuffy timeline but Aeryn was mostly sad that this was Dru's last appearance. (Extremely valid reaction, Dru is awesome and deserves as much screentime as she wants.)
Intervention!
Buffybot! "Oh look, it's Spike! And he's wearing a coat!" "The who whatting how with HUH??" etc etc. Still hilarious, no notes.
AtS - Beige!Angel has recovered and the gang has traveled to Pylea.
When we were looking ahead at episode titles from mid-season, Aeryn's comment was "Ooh, reprise. That's when you repeat a song from earlier in the musical with perhaps some slight changes" and I told them to remember that because it was about to be EXTREMELY RELEVANT. (See also: Epiphany aka the opposite of Innocence.)
A was disappointed in Harmony joining the pyramid scheme (because it meant she wouldn't be sticking around in the cast) for about three seconds and then said "But no, of course Harmony immediately joined the vampire cult."
The back half of S2 is my favorite phase of the Angel/Cordy friendship, and I'm pre-emptively annoyed because I know Future Show is going to RUIN IT.
I'm still salty about that almost 24 years later.
A is sure that Lorne's not dead because "I think he gets added to the main credits at some point and you can't be in the main cast if you're dead."
Normally this would be airtight TV logic, unfortunately tomorrow night we are going to watch The Gift.
