The beginning of Belonging is really good. Angsty Wes with the stiff upper lip for Gunn.
Buffy 4: Grr. Arrgh.
This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.
I hated that whole story line. I thought (hoped) it was going to be about Willow's abuse of power and how she kept using magic because she was so insecure about who she was.
And the return visit to Rak in "Wrecked" was where the story line shifted to bad places.
And Wolfram, your comment is generally fair. But it's also why clunkers like DMP hurt so much more. We know they're capable of so much more. And we identify enough that it hurts when, say, the skies open up and a dozen 747s full of crap land on Buffy.

I totally agree. It's like watching a good friend do something really stupid. Even if lots of people do it too, it hurts to watch your friend do it much worse.

nods emphatically
The part of Wrecked that really, truly disgusted me wasn't the Magic Crack Car Crash stuff per se, it was the way Willow was treating Dawn. Agghghghrhrgh. And no, I'm not saying that one character can't treat another character like crap, just that there needs to be more justification for it than "High now!"
Just for a moment, compare [Wrecked] to any episode of Blossom, Jerry Springer, COPS, Joe Millionaire, Full House, Fastlane, any UPN comedy, or any reality show with celebrity in the title and tell me which you'd rather spend an hour watching?
The latter. I can ignore the awful parts of those much more easily, and I don't feel like I'm being betrayed in the process.

It's a cheap cop out and stupidly innacurate. People are mean drunks but, really, how many people get really belligerent when they're stoned.

Depends on the drug, doesn't it? (not debating that it was a dumbass story-line and that they missed an opportunity to address how willow used magic to compensate for her insecurities)
You know. Gang-related. PCP.
Sure, Smonster, I get what you're saying BUT Willow whacked on on magick didn't seem like PCP. She seemed sort of loopy and euphoric and out of it. Just saying that if you're going to make magick a drug, then be smart about it. Maybe everytime Willow finishes a spell she orders a pizza and listens to the Allman Brothers.
Just as an aside, I always wanted a BtVS episode where everyone gets baked. I thought it would be hilarious in much the same way that one "BArney Miller" episode was so funny. Also, it would be a nice way for Giles to relive his youth.

Hmm. Yes, I see what you're saying. My memory of that arc is v. fuzzy - was out of country and being tape fairy'd. Not sure I've seen them all, really.
You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day...
