Phone bank went well, but sometimes I think that nothing in my life really adds up to anything..

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It's a non-trivial improvement over actual nothing, erika! Just hearing that a phone bank went well keeps my morale up, on top of any election results you may have affected

Yeah, and at least it wasn't a really high-tech one so I didn't have to have everyone watch me not keeping up...I hate when that happens...sometimes I do it anyway, but not my favorite. I'm very grateful that I got to call social-media gadfly guy yesterday, even though I do know that people sometimes buy followers and stuff. Usually, I can go a long time between good local results, but it's kind of part of the role of what my state insists on calling a "precinct committeeman'(because, not only are they not hip to the more current evolutions in conceptions of gender, they are slowly catching onto the first two...not the biggest recruitment problem we have, but I wouldn't say it *isn't* one. Right?)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I cleaned the Guinea Pig cage. Woo fucking hoo!

I still need to vacuum and do dishes but the pig cage is by far the most onerous and arduous task.

I'm hanging out with my Pilates teacher tomorrow for an outing to Japantown and then a hang back at my house. I'm happy to move this relationship from parasocial to social, and also happy to be doing stuff at home, as most of my socializing is Out and About and that has made the house feel emptier.

By random confluence both of my brothers-in-law will be in town on Monday, so me, Emmett & Matilda will go out to dinner with them.

The garden apartment is already ready for guests, so I just have to put some sheets on the TV room couch for one of them.

It's a sunny, summery day in SF for Halloween. I'm about to hit up my parasocials after my post-pig shower, and that'll probably be it for the holiday for me.

I keep forgetting it's Halloween. Haven't left the house today and don't plan to. I did put on a striped shirt in a sort of vague gesture at homage towards Pugsley, maybe, but I don't have any candy (I did buy a bad of my usual Hershey's miniatures but I brought it to work. We didn't do the thing where people bring their kids to trick-or-treat in the office (last year we officially did it but I didn't see any kids, this year no mention of it) but my co-workers will be happy to have a bit of chocolate available from time to time) and I never even opened my boxes of decorations. Oh well.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We had maybe 10 trick-or-treaters, which is low for a year with weather like today (50 degrees, not rainy, not windy). So we have a shit-ton of candy left, which can go to Tim's office on Monday. Although, let's be real, I'm going to keep the Reese's pumpkins.

Punishingly Intricate

We had I dunno 100 kids? Anyway all our candy is done.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

I was sitting here minding my own business and scrolling through my social media feed, and that picture of whatsisnose's widow hugging the Hillbilly Elegy guy went by. I had two immediate thoughts:

  • "Gah! You made a bear! Undo it! Undo it!"
  • "That is not the Erika I want to see in leather (pleather?) pants. Some traditions should stay inside their subcultures."
Anyhow, for those of you who have not seen the photo, consider yourselves fortunate.

For someone who aspires to...le vie boheme(minus tuberculosis), I know I can be a little too private about physical contact and, you know, the application of same in public--it might be me, right? But that was so embarrassing I had to watch a bunch of Archers to kill the urge to find out how to say "Get a room, she-beast," in German and post it where they might see it--woof. (if they did Too Much Candy, I'd yak.) Well, still got the pleather, and, yes, I actually like sharing my name with that soap-opera chick more than Merry Widow Kirk. Have been feeling a bit repellingly single this week, but I think ita's rule applies and I'd rather lick a water fountain in the county jail than touch either of those individuals--I might catch it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We had 5 trick or treaters all night. Most of the candy will go to work with me on Monday I guess.
