ION, I can't fucking believe that Bari Weiss is now in charge of CBS news.

I think that's him typing his commentary from wherever he is.

It's honestly so embarrassing. I'm relieved I don't have to go to work there anymore!
This is week 5 of cancer treatment, and today is chemo day. Tim checked in with his chemo oncologist about his stupid low BP and trip to the ER for fluids, and the conclusion was "My friend, you need a LOT more salt in your diet!" So electrolytes aren't cutting it. Time to hit up Tractor Supply and get the man a salt lick.
The radiation techs told Tim that radiation to the head and neck is honestly the roughest radiation for a cancer patient BUT despite that, he's doing really well in terms of side effects this far into treatment (in that he's still eating solid foods and doesn't have a PEG tube and the pain in his throat is minimal). But the radiation oncologist did emphasize that the side effects will probably be worse after the treatment is over, just because it's a cumulative effect.
Unrelated to cancer but related to medicine (smooth transition there), after 8 weeks on Zepbound, I am down 11-12 pounds depending on whether the scale is a liar. The side effects are pretty well under control, so everything seems to be going according to plan.
My hip feels okay enough that I may hop back on the exercise bike today just to see how it feels.
Today is a day for celebration! Happiest of happy birthday wishes to JenP! I hope you are being spoiled today and that the year to come is filled with all the things you love.
It is great to hear that Tim is doing well with his treatment, and an end is in sight. Mmmm, salt! Also, good news on the Zepbound progress.
My hip PT has made a world of difference. The past few months, I've even been able to sleep on that side again. It is pretty much pain-free unless I poke at it too hard, so I avoid doing that. The only lock up I had was after staying seated in a plane for several hours, then in the car for a couple more. I should know better by now and get up and move around more often.
Next week I am going to acupuncture for the knee pain. It would be beneficial to be able to walk distances again. In my PT routines, there are a bunch where my weight is all on one leg. I can balance myself on one leg indefinitely, but only for a few seconds on the bad knee side. If acupuncture can relieve the pain, I can more easily do all the PT to strengthen the muscles around the knee.
Bodies, man.
Happy Birthday, JenP!
Bodies, man.
Seriously. I want to speak to the manager.
Happy Birthday JenP!
Over the weekend I went to the wedding of one of my pseudo nephews, which was lakeside at a park with the reception at a pavillion afterwards. The ceremony was delayed 30 minutes for the flower girl's arrival, which worked out perfectly for the timing of the sunset. (Less so for the cloud of stealth mosquitoes—I thought I'd escaped them, only to discover my arms covered with bites this morning that didn't show up yesterday.) I sacrificed a plastic salad bowl as my price to escape just as the Medieval dance music was starting up.
You didn’t stay for Medieval dancing? Or are sacrificial bowls involved in Medieval dancing?
Glad to hear Tim's progress, and getting closer to the end of this treatment.
Good job on the Zep, Tep.
Happiest birthday, JenP!
Getting up and moving around is key! My sciatica tends to be triggered by sitting on the couch too long. I can't just flump and marathon something on TV.
Going to be in the high 70s today, which is classic Indian Summer in SF.
EM is coming by in half an hour and will prod me through paperwork and bills, buy at least the housework is done.
