Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place.
Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
lemon-flavored electrolytes in ginger tea is delicious
We have lemon-lime electrolytes and ginger-turmeric tea. I feel like that's too many flavors. But lemon and ginger are awesome.
Considering watching Superman on HBO in solidarity with you, Tep.
Yesssssssss.
Tim has gotten me totally hooked on the Midnight Burger podcast (it's an audio drama about a time-traveling, dimension-hopping diner, and it's REALLY good), so we've been listening to that during dinner, like we're sitting around the radio listening to The Shadow Knows. It's totally worth listening to, for real. Anyway, Midnight Burger has to take a back seat to Superman tonight. (Or, you know, porque no los dos?)
Are you watching Peacemaker, Steph? Even if you’re not, I suggest that you should probably seek out S2E6 regardless.
I haven't been watching it, but we have HBO Max, so I can watch that episode.
Just got back from buying Emmett a car, a new Camry (which is a Hybrid) because he needed something more reliable to go to all his various Electrician gigs (which can be down in San Jose or up in Marin as well as SF).
I've never bought a new car before in my life! In fact, nobody in our family had.
But the prices of used cars are so high now that it was just easier and more convenient, and there was better value in getting the new car.
So he traded in his 1997 Camry (aka, Sally) for a 2026 version, which looks much the same in many respects but has a berjillion more computer aided bits and safety stuff.
Originally we were going to be hiking all the way out to used lots in Richmond, but by buying new, I was able to go to a Toyota place literally six blocks away, and could Uber over to my Credit Union to get the Cashier's Check and back in a couple minutes.
Funnest part? When you are doing all the paperwork, they had a desk sized iPad called a Docupad, so you just signed off on things there and they email you the documents.
So that's my Task For the Day. Two hours start to finish.
This evening we're going out with the kids (and their Significant Otters) to dinner to celebrate birthdays.
we've been listening to that during dinner, like we're sitting around the radio listening to The Shadow Knows.
I love this! Looked up Midnight Burger and there are 5 seasons, which seems like a big commitment, but I will check it out.
Yay new car and birthday dinners!

I mean, we *are* posting on a board that started as a fanboard for a TV show with 7 seasons (and a spinoff with 5 seasons). I believe in your ability to commit!

That's exactly why we bought the Corolla Hybrid new -- for used Corolla Hybrids with the kind of mileage we wanted, the prices were like $1,000-$3,000 less than new, and at that point, buying new was the obvious choice.

They let me literally write a personal check for 5 figures. I wasn't sure that was a thing you could do, but the dealership was cool with it.
Technically, our Ioniq 5 was used, but it was a dealer demo model with, like, 1500 miles on it, so it doesn't really count. (Other than that, we've mostly bought new for a while now. We keep our cars a long time, and we've had bad luck with used.)
I've been watching Taskmaster on Pluto . Alsa they only have a few seasons and we are almost done. And I want more because Pimento from Brooklyn 99/Derek from The Good Place was on a season (or two maybe ?) and I've seen some clips and he is totally funny and unhinged. And I've also been watching The Great Canadian Bake Off on Roku channel .
As Dana, I think, mentioned, it's all on YouTube. Jason's on Series 19, which is the series before the current one. He and Stevie (Martin) are the most ridonkulous team in the history of the show, and I love them. Series 19 also has some remarkable moments with Mathew Baynton (from the UK original version of Ghosts, also from Good Girl's Guide to Murder, also from a shit ton of comedy stuff). (Mat also wore what is probably the least flattering contestant task outfit ever, OMG. HOW DO YOU OUTDO PHIL WANG IN THAT REGARD? I HAD NOT THOUGHT IT POSSIBLE.)
Series 19 is probably my favorite series, but there are a few that come very close. The series Fern Brady was on (I think it was 14?) is up there. And, of course, Series 7, where Rhod's pre-existing friendship with Greg ends up with some serious comedy gold. If you can rope a man's mother into things...

Good point. And diner based SF is absolutely my jam. It’s really just a question of how I’ll fit it into my podcast listening schedule
(Or, you know, porque no los dos?)
That's what I was thinking.
And now I will add the time traveling diner to my list.
ETA: And yay new car! I'm glad we don't need a new car (hi, 2013 Civic!), because that would be a giant financial pain right now, but I do look forward to a rear camera and heated seats one day when feasible.
Just got back from buying Emmett a car, a new Camry (which is a Hybrid)
Awesome. He really needs to have reliable transportation for work. My son had the Camry hybrid and loved it. I hope the birthday dinner was a complete delight.
My list of to-be-watched is still very long. I tend to choose a series based on how many seasons, as a squishy method of seeing if it was good enough to last. Well and a few things that are new and only one season, but then I have to wait!!, and I am not good with waiting.
It is hard to fathom that we used to have to wait an entire week, or longer, for another single episode. Craziness!
