Sir? I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Happy Labor Day and happy birthday to the folks I missed!

Plei, I'm so sorry for your mom, but like others said upthread, hospice is pretty great and focuses on quality of life. (My dad got regular visits from a guitar-playing priest, which I think he found very valuable.)

Best of luck to Tim, Teppy. Hope it all goes ok and fast.

I spent most of the last 2 weeks on the road, which was fun but also exhausting. At least TFG hasn't cancelled all federal holidays for us feds.

Last night I went to the Valkyries' game (which they won, yay), and today I'm sorting clothes that no longer fit and trying to get myself to the local consignment shop to see if they'll take a bunch of nice work clothes I won't wear anymore. The dog is slumped on the floor because it's cooler than the dog bed, and I'm sitting right underneath the ceiling fan, which is set on HIGH.

I bought a bunch of clothes from Quince (see above re: clothes no longer fitting) and today I got a Fedex message that some of them are still in India. I hope they actually get delivered given the tariff situation!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just had a very strange interaction. Walking back to my building (after picking up take-out tacos) some guy driving slowly up my street calls out, "Excuse me do you live on this street?" Wanted to know if I've been here long. "20 years?" Said he used to live on the corner but he got busted by the feds and spent 17 years in prison. "Want to know who let me out? The Supreme Court of the United States. Have a nice day." and off he drove. I live on the corner and I have been here that long. I didn't recognize him but it seemed like maybe he recognized me.

eta After some more thought... there was a slightly creepy, strung out dude who lived down the hall from me a long time ago. I think maybe I won't take the trash out after dark for a while.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My favorite comment from all the news and speculation about Trump's health issues:

"Clots and prayers!"

Our wings are not tired.

Eeep, aurelia! I don't like the sound of that at all.

"Clots and prayers!"

The last year and everything to do with that blight have changed me as a person. This isn't a good thing, but yeah, that quote is where it is at.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Obviously we’ll take it as given that nothing about Tim’s cancer makes me glad he has it, but I was just reading the bio of his radiation oncologist, and before he got his MD, he got a PhD in nanotechnology. Tim and I agree that's pretty fucking awesome. He might be a comic-book character.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I just finished my PT, and now I have ice on my leg and am wondering who delivers morphine popsicles.

I'd say that's firmly in the purview of Delirium.

(Since nobody makes any money off of my low-key hunch that The Endless might actually exist I continue to lightly hold such belief.)
