First, you already know Brendon is a superhero but once again he came through. A couple days ago I was telling him how we couldn’t get my sister Judi to see Jim because his room was up 4 stairs and she can’t do any. He went and bought lumber, built a ramp, with 3 others hauled her and her wheelchair up so she could be with him. Drove the round trip (6 hours) to do just that then came back and did it again the next day picking us up at airport and staying with us until the end.
Second, my brother has a complex familial history. Children with 4 women (that we know about) and stepchildren. Grandchildren with various kids and stepkids. Also in his large emotional Italian family many estrangements. Let’s just say writing his obituary is hysterical as we try various vaguespeak. We’ll figure it out but right now we are mocking his life choices. (We are omitting his two predeceased brothers in law from my branch)
Out, bad cells, out!
Laura, I'm sorry.

Yeah, writing my dad's was like that. It's good that you're finding the humor in it.
My condolences to you and your family, Laura.
Laura, I'm so sorry about your brother. I'm glad he waited for you. And yes, Brendon is an absolute superhero!
I'm so sorry about your brother, Laura. He seems like somebody who sailed under their own wind and wasn't going to change his habits to extend his stay. He lived the life of his choosing.

And then some!
My sciatica re-emerged last night after I sat on couch wrong, apparently. But this time it came on my right leg. Very unwelcome return, but I was able to push it back with my life-saving standing stretch to open the piriformis. Not an issue at Pilates.
My neighborhood not only has USF nearby, but an elementary school (where my downstairs neighbor has her son attending) and a Montessori. Which is to say, that all the schools are back in session and you can feel the buzz in the neighborhood.
Nice sunny day to welcome them back.
As we prepare to send Dylan off to college, I've been noticing all the little routine family things that are happening for the last time (really minor things like "this is the last time I'll have to buy this specific cereal only he eats" at the grocery store).
I described this to the kids at dinner as "I'm having all these Boromir-will-never-eat-scrambled-eggs-again feelings" and received blank stares, which I think proves that this generation is not as Very Online as they think they are SO THERE. #learnyourhistorykids
My firm is remote for the next two weeks and I just took a little twenty minute nap.
Glorious!
I've been making yogurt for the past bit because its protein that works very well for mom. I was just buying it but we kept having a freezer full of little half-pints of milk from her lunch delivery service to contend with. One day the penny dropped...
I was also making almond milk for a while because she was on an iodine restriction and finding a plant-based milk with no salt proved impossible. That was fun. Almond flour, pinch of sugar, pinch of kosher salt, a few drops of vanilla, blend, strain it in a nut milk bag... it tends to separate in a few hours so there's shaking involved but that's no big and you get to snicker like a 12 year old about the nut milk bag (basically a thicker cheese cloth) that I now use to strain the yogurt.
I'm so sorry about your brother, Laura.
I had my annual mammogram this morning and am now in the Schrodinger's boobs stage of waiting to get a message that there's an update for me in MyChart.
