Yeah definitely find I can’t eat close to bedtime because of possible reflux. But then again, before I started the drugs I had reflux all the time so…still better. Insomnia didn’t hit me though—more fatigue (which was likely also due in part to not getting enough calories at times!)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda has been delivered to her college!

EM and Emmett came with, and, as with move-in- days at every college everywhere, it was chaotic and yet somehow organized.

After arrival we unloaded Matilda's stuff into two large bins and then Matilda went to check in and get her ID and wi-fi access and keycard, EM went to the school store to buy sweatshirts and Emmett and I drove the car home and lingered over second coffee before returning.

Because we knew it would be at least an hour and probably two before the movers would bring Matilda's bins to her room.

Met with Matilda back at her dorm and went up to the 7th floor (excellent view) and were first in her room. Emmett did the heavy work of lofting both beds (just raising them to the top slot of their adjustable frames for maximum storage underneath), and moving the drawers under the new bed space, and rotating the desks to the wall.

Then Matilda's roommate, Lillibeth, arrived with her mother, and we chatted with them until the bins showed up, while Matilda was excited and antsy because she had a whole strategy about unpacking which involved de-gassing her mattress topper and plugging in all her power strips before everything else.

Eventually Matilda's bins arrived and all was unloaded, and she ran around fixing everything just so. EM and Emmett took off and I waited until the big suitcase was unpacked so I could drag that home with various broken down boxes and bags.

And I am here to report that Matilda was very excited and happy and the whole dorm was buzzing with excited and happy teenagers.

Our wings are not tired.

An exciting time for sure. I'm looking forward to hearing about her college adventures.

Aww man I miss the excitement and fun of college dorms. Everyone being new at once. All the possibility!

Always Anti-fascist!

Didn't really get to have. But I still know what you mean. Still kind of think I should be starting some big new stuff in September, even if it's been a long time.

Punishingly Intricate

I’m so glad EM is part of Matilda’s life!

She's really been like a close Aunt or exceptionally good Godmother to Matilda.

Matilda started doing sleepovers with EM when Matilda was still in diapers.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Matilda was very excited and happy

That's good to hear. I'm fascinated that they have movers deliver the bins to the room. When I've seen the big bins/hampers at campuses around here it's always looked like students & parents were doing all of the vehicle to dorm transporting.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Yay for Matilda! That all-brand-newness of freshman year in a dorm is so exciting.

First day of WorldCon was fun except for the part where the registration line was nearly two hours--apparently they'd had some technical difficulties early on and by the time everything was running smoothly the line was a monster that took over the whole lobby. But I got lots of compliments on my dinosaur dress, and I'm happy to report that Martha Wells is currently working on another Murderbot book.
