Bagels are a sign of love, I always say. Especially from Montréal.
In related news, housemate and I will be going to boichik bagels in Berkeley to pick up an order.

I decided to meet up with my son for dinner last night since his GF would be working late. Told him to meet us at Grande's Pizza. As we left, I messaged him our ETA. We get there, no son. 5-10 minutes later still no son so I try and call, but no cell signal or internet. (a common issue up here). More and more time passes and now over a half hour so DH goes walking to try and grab signal. He finally reaches him about 40 minutes late and son is in full on panic mode. Getting ready to drive the route we would take to see if we are in a ravine or something, because both our phones are offline.
It ends up that there are 3 Grande's, but I have only been to one of them. Another is just a couple blocks from his place so he assumed I was going there. I felt so bad. I didn't panic when I couldn't reach him. because I thought maybe something came up, but he was totally freaked out.
And so goes the reversal of parent/child/parent roles.
Just got my summer Covid vax. You know, while we still have vaxes.
Oh, geez, Laura. That's no fun for anyone. Glad it was just a mix-up, but still ...
I have totally done that before Laura. The best one was when a friend and I arranged to meet up after work at “the new Mexican place on Grand” and I went all the way downtown to a place near her office and she took the bus out to my neighborhood to a place near my home. Both on Grand though so we were half right.
What is everyone doing this holiday weekend?
We are doing picnic stuff at my nephews, then the boat parade on Otter Lake. We aren't participating this year, just hanging out on the dock and cheering them on. I think I am just going to enjoy the neighborhood fireworks rather than driving somewhere and having to park and walk. Just not up to it.

Parade in 40 minutes (it's just one block over), then up to Tim's brother and SiL's house for a picnic later. Tomorrow a pool party with friends. Sunday, collapse, recover, get groceries.
Nah, I am actually skipping the parade. I woke up with an ice-pick migraine (although Ubrelvy *is* working and the migraine is going away) and it's in the 90s and also my mood is in the toilet because our country sucks. I am just not feeling the parade-ness this year, even though I always say that our neighborhood's July 4th parade is very much NOT about America Fuck Yeah and entirely about Northside Is The Best Side.
I do still plan to rally and go to Tim's brother and SiL's house for the picnic later. We have potato salad and brats and cookies, so we gotta go. Plus there will be shenanigans, as usual, which always improves my mood.

Getting my eyebrows done!
I'm actually decompressing from all the socializing of my birthday week and my niece being here, so it will be low key.
I was going to mail some things today but I just realized the P.O. is closed.
I'm not feeling great about celebrating the country, so I am going to dedicate today to celebrating brenda's new haircut.
I am meeting two friends for an early "don't feel like celebrating the 4th, but would like to see you guys" dinner... at 4p to avoid fireworks' traffic.
No plans for today or tomorrow, but I'll think on it.
Just really depleted of spirit.
