Ooh but you could go get Cuban coffee. For that I am jealous. Though not for the sleep score of 23! Goodness!

I was awoken by many many sirens between like 5-539am? wtf. But then fell back asleep…and woke up 45 minutes after my alarm because my phone had died and not alarmed. Oops. Luckily nbd.

Our wings are not tired.

I checked and there were half a dozen Cuban coffee options on my route to and from the dog park, but they were all sit-down cafe-type joints. In Miami I could just grab it from a street vendor or food truck. Since I have the dog with me a cafe wasn't a good option.

There is very little that I can say Tesla did better than Mercedes, but doggy mode is a biggie. I either have to trick the car into thinking I am still in the car and leave it running, or roll down the windows and leave it unlocked, which still doesn't work in this heat. Mercedes does not have a doggy mode because, by policy, they do not believe dogs should be left in the car. Really! That means no more routine car rides when I do errands for poor Skinner. I used doggy mode all the time.

Another notable example of underutilized technology is the lack of driver recognition and vehicle starting features. In the Tesla, you are synced via Bluetooth to your phone. As you approach it knows it is you, adjusts the seat, and unlocks. There is no start button; you just put it in drive and go. The Mercedes has a key fob, after which you choose which driver you are, and then press an actual button to start or stop the car. What!! I am so spoiled, but all of that is just readily available tech, and they could use it. My theory is that they make so much on selling key fobs that they don't want to eliminate them.

Grumbling over. Back to work.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My whole week is screwed up. Today is my first day in the office.

My M-W were normal but I still feel as if I have forgotten how this whole "working" thing is supposed to go. Also, cat on my lap

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

What!! I am so spoiled

I mean..."My Mercedes doesn't adjust my seat before I get to the car" is kinda up there with my diamond shoes are too tight.

Good news from sunny San Francisco, Emmett's first gig as an Electrician's Apprentice begins on Monday!

He's excited! I'm excited. Once the fall comes around these beginner gigs will be mixed with electrician classes. I'm going to need to help him get a new car, though.

I made plans with Matilda's bestie, Iris, to come over and do another deep clean/organize on Matilda's bedroom. (It's a paying gig.).

I've got Pilates at noon and then I can faff about.

He's needed this for a while.

In other news about my children, Matilda's able to begin her course selection starting today. So that's exciting too.

Forward movement on both children at the same time!

Go, Emmett, indeed. A great field with an abundance of opportunities to follow.

I mean..."My Mercedes doesn't adjust my seat before I get to the car" is kinda up there with my diamond shoes are too tight.

Well, yeah. But I deserve better! I'm all about the tech. I am looking forward to the road trip north in the new wheels. It drives like a dream. I have zero complaints about the 5 varieties of seat massages. It is far and away the fanciest thing I have ever owned, and quite a step up from the $75 used '64 Chevy that was my first car.

Go Emmett! Go course selection! If I won the lottery I’d go back to school and take all sorts of random courses.

Laura the lack of dog mode is a shame! Rivian does have dog mode—my friends got one and love that part of it for their dog. It’s totally something I would want in an electric car! The rest I can’t fathom but could see how I’d get used to having it and miss it if I didn’t anymore. What do you do if your phone dies or is broken or lost though, for the Tesla?

You do get a key card like a credit card that will open and start the car. I use that for valet or whatever, or when the phone is dead. My condo requires us to leave a key in case they need to move the car, so they have one of my key cards.
