I liked "Local Hero"...haven't seen it in a while. We're not really doing Father's Day and everyone is pretending it's because of his surgery and all that. I mean, it would be kind of true, but that doesn't account for the other twenty times. He was lucky, but that is the one thing he'll never say...instead of "No cancer," he's been focused on the complications. Because, of course.(I guess I come by that dark streak natural on both sides.) Dropped him an e-mail which I might get an answer to tomorrow, maybe. "No Kings" was big even out in the burbs, not just by the university where I might expect a big one. I am pleasantly surprised and hope Dan, et al, could build some momentum up.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Just checking in to let you know that I'm OK, and safe, and also freaking tired. Took the cat and I'm staying with friends who have a safe room (my building doesn't have a safe space for Iranian missiles). We're living it one day at a time.
Gonna have a cup of tea and watch Taskmaster to try to unloop my mind and then fall asleep until the next air raid siren.
Also, the cat doesn't appreciate being in a cage in a small safe room with two other adults, two kids, a dog, and sometimes another cat, but guess what, kid. This is the best case scenario.
damn, yeah, pretty much a kitty nightmare.
cereal: Dad and I talked about Ugly Betty for a moment. As good as our shit gets, post-puberty. ETA: Good wishes for Buffista fathers and father figures...
Shir, I’m glad you have somewhere safer to go, but boy that sounds difficult.
Local Hero, it’s been ages since I saw that. We watched a movie last night (I think on Peacock) called The Ballad of Wallis Island and were generally charmed.
Thanks for checking in, Shir and Nilly. I'm so glad you're safe, and hoping you continue to be so.
Shir and Nilly, you're never far from my heart lately.
I've been running a constant low-grade fever for 2 days (which is weird because [1] I never get fevers, and [2] my normal temp is around 97, so 100 feels HOT), so no Father's Day lunch today. Nothing other than reading and trying to remember to hydrate. (Best electrolyte replacer: Drip Drop Hydration fruit punch and cherry flavors.) Covid tests have been negative, so it's just some generic Ick.
My left-hand carpal tunnel surgery is coming up Thursday, which means no ibuprofen this week, which means I am once again reminded that apparently the only thing keeping me alive *is* ibuprofen, because all my parts are starting to hurt.
Is there anything going on in my life that *isn't* my ancient body crumbling? Oh! Lightning bugs are back! Seeing them makes me so happy!
Steph, sounds like you have the same virus I’ve had!! Today was the first day since Tuesday my temp was normal.

It's just low-grade fever and stuffy head/ears. Also fatigue and feeling like shit. It can fuck off to whatever ring of heck it came from. ("Ring of hell" seems too strong for a low-grade non-Covid Ick.)
So the Tornado (my BIL's nickname for my dog) has a cough again. This will be the fourth or fifth infection or reaction since I got her a year ago. I'm beginning to think she has allergic pneumonitis. Unfortunately I'm leaving on vacation on Wednesday for 3 weeks!
So first thing tomorrow I call the vet, get another course of steroids for her, and call the kennel. Who will then charge me an extra $50/day to walk her instead of putting her in the all-day daycare.
Yay. Don't let anyone ever tell you that pets are cheap.
