I’m a huge fan of the GLP1 drugs, Laura! They’ve helped me so much. And while I haven’t been running at all (I need to go back to that, it was good for me) having less weight on me helped immensely when it came to trying to run! It’s wild though, and Friday I was like “dang I know I’m not hungry why do I feel like I need to eat more?” And then realized I was due for my shot. So for me a lot of it isn’t just the decreased actual hunger, but the relentless brain going “eat more now!”

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

GLP1 drugs have been recommended to me, but I am scared to try them. I read through the list of common side effects, and I already have many of them -- fatigue, nausea, muscle loss and attendant weakness and balance issues, diarrhea, bloating and burping, stress on kidney function....

I fear I couldn't handle them getting worse.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I’m having the same great for four days, stuffing my pie hole for two pattern and I’m thinking of doing the GLPs. Partly cause I’m just getting so down on myself about it.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm not remotely interested in doing marathons again, but I live at the beach, and just walking the shore is a struggle. I love to kayak in the summer but getting in and out of the kayak is a challenge. Routine things like gardening or shopping would be a lot easier if my poor old joints didn't have so much to handle. The last time I made an effort at weight loss I lost 60 pounds in a year of Keto, but this try I just can't keep it up. It could be the overall stress level in life. I'd rather try this than replace my knee and hip. I may have to do that eventually, but recovery from surgery is a whole lot easier with less weight too.

Hope it goes well for you, Laura! They've worked well for me. Still want to drop another 20 lbs., though I'm not sure a dose increase will do that for me. But we'll see. But, yeah, the not constantly feeling the urge to eat whether I'm hungry or not has been the most mentally positive result for me.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

FWIW, the side effects have been negligible for me. Of course, everybody's body chemistry is different, but I really only feel queasy for the first few days after the shot.

And it's not exactly nausea either. It's more my stomach saying "No, thanks." It's not a full body nausea.

On the meds it's pretty easy for me to get by on two small meals a day. And you learn pretty quickly to have smaller portions because the over full feeling is unpleasant.

One epiphany is just that your body does not need that much fuel to function on a daily basis. I'm fine, my energy levels are normal.

It does help that I went on a hard core carb free diet before because I have a repertoire of recipes that amplify the effect. That said, I did have a slice of toast with my omelette this morning.

What I need to learn now is to buy less food. I've had to throw out stuff I haven't eaten because I'm just not going through so much food in a day.

I do keep some TJ's mixed nuts bags around and sometimes it helps to have a bite of that to settle my stomach.

I'm just not going through so much food in a day.

Yeah, it took me a shockingly long time to realize that. The freezer is my friend. I mean, can't do that with everything, but it helps.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I was about to make blueberry scones, and then oh my god my flour* has weevils in it. I am so grossed out. I do have brand-new sealed unopened almond flour, so I'm going to attempt the recipe with that.

*(Gluten-free and therefore expensive. Those weevils need to go freeload someone else's less-expensive regular flour.)

No shit - that stuff is like gold.

I should type up an invoice and leave it in the pantry for the weevils.

The almond flour scone dough is now chilling in the fridge, while copycat Starbuck's egg bites are baking. Once the cookie sheets are cool again, I'll bake the scones and see how they turn out. It seems like a pretty good recipe, so fingers are crossed!
