I am going to spend my entire weekend flopped on the couch watching TV and doing hand sewing. The past two weeks for work have been crazy stressful; add in the near constant anxiety insomnia and nightmares and I am WIPED OUT.
I'm bumping up to 1.0 (the actual "therapeutic" dose) of Wegovy today, and I'm a little apprehensive. I haven't had any of the terrible side effects so far, but I live in a state of low-level anxiety all the time now, so hey! My brain will look for more things to freak out about.
We’re in Michigan this weekend for yearly mushroom hunt and it’s been… too “exciting.”
We got in Thursday late afternoon and Bob’s Mom wasn’t feeling well. Seemed to be digestive stuff she said had started the day before and wasn’t getting better. She couldn’t eat anything for dinner but was sitting up at the table with us chatting. Bob and I went out to meet up with his sister at the brewery 5 minutes away for a beer. We were there maybe 20 minutes and Bob’s mom called to say her stomach pain was much worse & was around her back now and she thought she needed to go to the hospital. So we rushed back and she was on the phone with 911 (thinking she would get admitted to the ED faster if she came in an ambulance). EMTs got there, determined she was probably not having a heart attack and got her over to the hospital about 20 min away
She got a CT scan at the hospital that showed an aortic ulcer being the likely source of the pain and they were going to admit her to the ICU. We came home sometime around 1.
Yesterday they started the catheterization to contain the ulcer in the afternoon and were finishing up when they nicked an artery in her stomach and ended up having to do a way more major surgery to repair it. So she was in surgery for like 5 more hours. But they think it went well. She was in danger of losing her leg! Anyway, she’s still in the ICU and in a fair amount of pain but the doctors say she’s doing well.
Oh, my gosh lisah, sending all the good recovery vibes her way. How scary! I'm glad she got care, and I'm glad you guys were there to help her with it and also not be stuck several states away worrying. Yikes.
Holy shit, Lisa.
Separately, I just bought Brenda’s pillows!
Omg!! How scary. I’m glad you all are there.
Holy crap, Lisa. I hope she continues to recover!
Goodness! Recovery~ma for Bob’s mom.
Timelies all!
Healing~ma for Bob's mom.
Ugh. Asshole neighbor was at it again. Mr. S is here, and wanted to play outside on our front lawn. Neighbor basically told him to go inside. He also told Gary to do something about our yard. (Now I know who put the sticky notes on our door a few weeks ago telling us to cut our grass) Gary got pissed off and yelled at him. (Did I mention that neighbor has several pro-Tr*mp signs in his front window, plus two signs saying "Kamala Harris sucks" that went up well after the election?)
Going back to colonoscopies, I have one scheduled along with an endoscopy on May 30th. I already have the prep, which I can mix with ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. (It's a total volume of 16 oz) I'm more concerned about the low fiber diet for three and two days before the procedure, and the clear liquid diet the day before.
I had to look up "aortic ulcer." Ouch. Do not want. ER and ICU were the right call.
Someone is being Wrong On The Internet about one of the medications I have been taking for the past five years. I posted a correction, with links to the relevant pages of the manufacturer's web site, but that seems not to have fazed him. I should let it go, but I am still angry out of all reasonable proportion, and still having difficulty with just letting it go. Grrrrrr.
clear liquid diet
Consommé
if you are feeling fancy.
I went with plain ol' Swanson chicken broth.
