Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

White smoke! There's a new pope!

That's quick! Where's the intrigue and the infighting?!

I'm like 99% sure it isn't Trump.

Is it our Tom Scola?

Sun has already broken through in SF. Back off fog!

The NBC commentators are saying it's the first American — Robert Francis Prevost. (That's not his papal name.) Wow!

Okay, he's Pope Leo XIV. He apparently was favored by Pope Francis as a successor, so hopefully he'll continue Francis's more progressive (for the Catholic Church) attitude.

He's 69 years old and a Chicagoan who also has Peruvian citizenship.

A USAmerican pope will not get me back to the church, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

No Pizzaballa for you!

No Pizzaballa for you!

I'm a little disappointed by that.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

I log in to tell everybody about my overnight adventures, and get immediately upstaged by a new Pope.

(Housemate -- the spouse of the one who was on TV -- had a kidney-stone attack a bit after midnight. We just got home from Kaiser about an hour ago. Everybody's fine, but we didn't get much sleep.)

Here's hoping the new Pope isn't a dickhead.

JD Vance has been a Catholic for less than six years, and he’s already been smacked down by TWO Popes.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
