I'm dithering over names. If I got a boy dog, I was thinking about Brasso or Kino -- both Star Wars names, from Andor. But I don't love the female names (Marva, Bix, Dedra), so I'm thinking about Star Trek instead. My favorite Trek right now is Lower Decks.
So: Tendi? Beckett? Mariner?
Tendi is too close to my brother's dog, who is named Twende (Swahili for "let's go"). Personality-wise, she's closer to Tendi than to Mariner, but still: it's a more stealth Trek callout than one of the other characters from the live action shows.
Oh, wait, there's also Tilly and Kira...

Mariner is a great name but I’d end up calling her Marnie because three syllables and I’m lazy lol.

I like Tilly as a girl dog name. Bix would work better as a cat name, although I’m sure I’d change it to Bixie almost immediately.
