Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

This weekend was a shitshow. Mr. S was here for two nights, and both nights ended up in an ER visit. He had seemed a bit off during the days, but not that bad. The meltdown Friday night was kinda bad, with him barricading himself in various rooms. Last night was much worse, with him being physically aggressive(throwing things at me, hitting me with a belt) and destructive.(He tore down both towel racks in Gary and my bathroom) He ended up getting sedated at the ER last night, and Gary picked him up there and brought him back to the RTC. I don't know what set him off.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm so sorry, Sheryl. What do they report on his behavior at RTC?

Laura,

For a while things were going well. In the last month or so he's been having meltdowns around bedtime.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I’m glad Matilda is home safe.

This morning I awoke to the news that Pope Francis has died. He seemed like a good pope. My condolences to any Catholics on the board.

Our wings are not tired.

Yes, compared with previous popes, he was a pretty good guy. My mom was crazy about him. If she were right in her faith, she should get to meet him now! (assuming they ended up in the same place)

Now the orange blight will have to do something worse to get himself back at the top of the page. Can't have the Pope getting all the press.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

I'm not Catholic, but Francis was such an incredible improvement over Benedict/Ratzinger that I was hoping he could stay a while.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

That's a shame. He was a decent guy. I have two irreverent thoughts:

1) Meeting with JD Vance fucking killed him.

2) The Conclave movie people must be thrilled. That movie's gonna get a hell of a bump.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Same, Karl.

I love a conclave (I am Catholic-adjacent but have never been Ctholic) but, damn, I would have preferred to wait a while.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

AI needs to be reined in not only for environmental / ethical reasons but because it mostly produces TERRIBLE results (that then require equivalent or more person-hours to correct than it would have cost to just...not use AI in the first place). The limited number of generative AI systems doing actual useful work is absolutely swamped by the number of AI assistants/enrichment tools consuming ridiculous amounts of water and fossil fuels and giving us nothing but garbage in return.
