I'm working from my parents' dining room today, as I often do of late but particularly am today because it's Mom's 84th birthday tomorrow. Anyway, one of their neighbors is having some work done and the ambient noise is not terrible (my neighborhood is often noisier for no particular reason) but one of the machines does something in a shave-and-a-haircut rhythm and that is SO DISTRACTING
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

I should get Ace flag hair, that would really suit me
The OG Ace flag (gray, black, purple) is a fantastic color combo, you should do it
My far-too-optimistic plan for leaving for vacation today was to be out of the house by noon. It is now 12:52. We'll be lucky to leave by 2. But we're only going 4 1/2 hours today, so that's not bad. We've had vacations where we rolled up to our interim hotel at like 11 pm. (And I really hope I didn't just jinx myself.)
I'm having stand mixer urges. Tilt head or bowl lift?
I still remember the first time I drove into Cincinnati from the airport in 1996 and thinking, holy crap this is the exact open credits shot from WKRP.

That's such a great view of the city, coming up 75.
It really is a great view. It's been quite a while since I've been out there.
I used to see that view every time I flew into Cincinnati, but I don't go that way to get to my new house. I kind of miss seeing it.
I feel like doing something tonight, but I'm also tired and my hips hurt a lot. I thought maybe I'd go see the new movie about Judy Heumann, but it turns out that doesn't open in the Cincinnati area until Monday. Then I thought maybe I'd go to a hockey game (it's Pride Night at the Cyclones), but accessible seating there means basically sitting by myself behind at least six rows of empty seats, and that just doesn't sound that fun.
I'm seeing the new Fantasticks tonight, which I'm very excited about. It's been one of my favorite shows my whole life.
Somehow, nearly every theatre in Cincinnati is in between shows this weekend. The only one that has something playing is a tribute concert to Judy Garland, which I feel pretty meh about.
