generally find hail kind of fascinating, but we usually just get little pebbles. not big angry ones.

very strange and destructive, but aren't we all. that one was, while not big enough to compare to fruit or sporting goods. the size of a big ice cube. was on the weather report, but having a big metro area in a valley means everyone doesn't get it all...thought it would miss us.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Bear McCreary! Cool.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yikes, erika!

I made it through today. JD Vance made me late for work (when he's in town, they shut down the street his house is on, which means I need to take a ridiculous detour to get to campus), and Ohio politics are being even more infuriating than usual. Had a bunch of minor work issues that weren't individually much, but just a lot to deal with in one day. Then had to take the Vance detour again on the way home, and it took me an hour to get how when it normally takes about 20-30 minutes.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I feel pretty certain you should not just go back to work, Sophia! Whatever is telling you that, don't listen.

I am telling me that! I have so much vacation that I am going to lose that I would rather work a couple hours and do intermittent FMLA to burn the vacation than have no contact with my main source of other people to talk to and mental stimulation in person! Instead I have a gatekeeper boss who told everyone to go through her and she would decide what I needed to hear. I heard this when I reached out to my work friend Bob he had been told not to contact me directly. Now she has texted me “ Would you be okay if a group of us (your friends) worked with you to understand your changing needs while you’re out and set something like a schedule to make sure we help as much as we can?”. She is a hospice nurse and it is rather disconcerting before I know the plan from my actual doctor.

Yikes. Good luck with the boss Sophia—glad you’ve got plenty of sick time to burn!

Good luck atropa also. I, like Plei, often have 7 or 730 meetings, as the price of living on the west coast, but I know that’s not your usual.

I went to the dentist today and they told me I need a crown. Boo and grr. They were like “there’s less than a third of your regular tooth left and so that’s when we recommend a crown” and I was like “ok why didn’t you recommend it when you last did a filling on this tooth then? It hasn’t changed since the last time I was here?” And they gave me some BS. Like, I’ve been going to the same practice (albeit a few different dentists) for 15 years, they ought to stand by their work! They’re going to submit to my dental insurance and let me know how much it would be, but I’m tempted to plan to take a Mexico vacation this winter and get it done there, probably cheaper.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I feel like she should know better! Hang in there.

That sounds complicated, Sophia. I hope you can get things arranged to your satisfaction. I generally think you work too hard, so I’m always going to advocate for not working, but if the alternative isn’t better than of course you should do what you want!

Made it to my gate 45 minutes before boarding, plenty of time for pancakes and a bloody mary. I haven’t flown in a couple of years so maybe I’m remembering wrong, but the whole security situation seems to have gotten stupider. Maybe it’s just me not knowing my way through it.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

Sophia, I'm glad to hear you've been discharged, and it sounds like things are moving in the right direction, clot-wise. Use up that PTO to heal and rest up for further treatment!

erika, I am making a O_O face at hail breaking a window! That's some serious hail!
