This too shall pass.

The boys won their soccer game in snow flurries. We had No Kings protesters in front of the school on the way! I am off to Old Forge for their protest at 2 today. They are only doing an hour because of the cold. I'll have pictures of us all bundled up later. I love the tiny community gatherings.

Back from the protest. We had 35 show up in the chilly town center. Full sunshine though so it was very pleasant.

Thought I was gonna do a virtual one, but I missed it.Which was kind of frustrating, but virtual protest doesn't feel the same anyway, so, whatever. Made some volunteer-finding calls for Dr. Shah, but nobody in Arizona picks up so...they didn't now, either.(See, this is where I feel like a failure as a crip as well as a Resistance fighter, because , while I do push through a lot and all that--Mom and I talked the other day about how we do stuff the hard, stubborn way even if we find an easier one, because it doesn't occur to us to find one cause sometimes there isn't) but, anyway, the part of winning out because I dig deep happens SO MUCH LESS than the mythology says it ought to, even if I did have special, inspiring skills to bring to the table. I usually don't even get that far. Which is kind of like I have one job, that I'm bad at, and maybe my deodorant doesn't work either. but that's not why I hate their AI assistants.

But I haven't vomited in a couple weeks now so things are a bit better even if I don't qualify for the Highway To Heaven reboot. ETA: That is still the most benignly ableist show I've ever seen...if I were going to give a presentation about discriminating without being actively mean, I'd use it. And I watched at all the time anyway, because at least it actively featured the halt and lame(And young helen Hunt dying of Leukemia that she could probably fake-survive now) The other rep was like, Cousin Geri and Arnold Jackson's big mouthed friend.

The weather changed and I'm having more food at lunch and a little at dinner. Which also makes breakfast more appealing too.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I will literally be going to the seaside for my health! Fucking FINALLY.

I hope you get to lounge around in a cure chair for maximum Victorian languidness.

Sophia, good to see your pixels!

It's not snowing here but it is chilly. Moreso because I refuse to turn the heat on this early in the fall and so my house is a nice frigid 60 inside. I am wearing my coziest hoodie and a lap blanket.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

I hope you get to lounge around in a cure chair for maximum Victorian languidness.

There are beach loungers, but that's about as close as I'll get. But I can improvise.

Since it's November, we will not be getting in the ocean, but we are packing swimsuits because the hotel we're staying in on the drive down and on the drive back home* has a hot tub.

*(It's a really easy 10-hour drive straight through, but my surgeon was like, look, you'll be less than 2 months out from surgery on your spine. Can you possibly make the drive shorter for your own good? And I do love the breakfast bar at Holiday Inn Express, so we're driving halfway, staying in Asheville, and then driving the rest of the way the next day, and reversing it on the way home.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don’t know that I’ve ever been to Asheville but for some reason I feel positive towards it

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And I do love the breakfast bar at Holiday Inn Express

So you're a fan of do-it-yourself waffles, cereal out of bubblegum machines, wet eggs and sausages that go spurt? [link]

Buffets aren't worth it for me. getting through the line in my chair is too hard--somebody bringing back two plates is too hard. (and sometimes, even in my most benign posting, I feel like a refugee from the planet Frustration, like, trying to explain why the natives aren't any fun...not that I'm counteracting it that much spending my Sundays as Harriet the Spy Learns Art History. meh.) But that is why it annoys me when TV shows decide including disabled characters is, like, "They do all the same things, but he just sits in a chair all the time." There might be someone living that, but mostly not, right? I'm annoyed with my brother because I feel like he is not being emotionally honest, and yeah, as a writer, maybe there is a part of me that has...I don't know, Hugging and Learning blue balls cause I thought we were gonna have a Moment of some sort and we didn't, and I do have to watch out for the part of me that's always thinking "In the movie, we'd do this," even given the way disability gets portrayed in movies. But I hate that he comes to my house, braindumps heavy old shit on me and in the time it takes for me to process it, he's over it and trying to move on. but he's the normal one and doesn't need a counselor. Sure. He's the easy one. I mean, we're night and day; I don't expect to truly be his confidant very often, but it's plain to me that he needs one...I'm not even sure about what, really. But he hints around like my dad till you go "what?" and then treats me like I'm delving.
