It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

dcp, that's a lot of Care and Maintenance of the Human Shell. You definitely deserve Chinese takeout!

Go dcp! Enjoy your well-earned treat!

I have a mysterious luncheon today. I got an invitation but no explanation of where it will be or what it's for, but it appears to be everyone in the "wing" we just moved to, so maybe it's about that? I just hope there will in fact be food because I didn't bring anything for lunch.

Getting my Hep B second dose and RSV vax after work, then I think I am done with getting jabbed until towards the end of November when I can get the new COVID. CVS keeps coming up with new things I maybe should get, so I am going to try to get pneumonia then as well, why not?

Our wings are not tired

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Our money laundering place in Dallas was an Ethiopian restaurant that never had anyone in it.

Not "our" place. The place. You know.

The movement away from cash transactions must have made that whole system harder to work.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The movement away from cash transactions must have made that whole system harder to work.

That's where Russia steps in and puts Donald Trump to work.

I thought bitcoin was supposed to be good for that but then I heard about those people who were using real estate to launder bitcoin and nothing makes any sense

Have lunched. They never did say what it was for, but we got Chipotle. The "Harvest Luncheon", which I believe includes bringing in kids for trick-or-treating, is in a couple of weeks so this wasn't that. Our best bet is that it was a mixer for our new neighbors but we all sat with our regular teams like we always do...

Hey, free Chipotle is good stuff.

I'm fascinated how Reddit can be both a cesspool and a super great source of info depending on which subreddit you wander into.

So true -- also thanks for the link. I guess I did have the basic concept; I just kept getting hung up on things like, "Yeah, but if you compared how much ground beef they bought to how many hamburgers they claimed to sell..." But then with a place like a car wash -- there's no real way to tell how many cars went through. I mean, even if you had a counter, you could like, run the same car through ten times. or whatever. I would be a money launderer's worst nightmare with my inherent "Yeeeeaaaaah, but..."ism.

Not "our" place. The place. You know.

Heh. Yeah.

So, apparently a lot of the unpaid taxes have a lot to do with not submitting payroll taxes right or at all or whatever. Yikes.

Sweet!

Whew, dcp, go you. And enjoy that Chinese food, yum.

Totally went down the rabbit hole of finance crap today. I mean, it was good in a way, and I learned some things, but also, it's overwhelming, because I only learned enough to know how much I need to dig in and learn more. tl;dr is we need a retirement tax advisor, even though we're not retiring any time soon. Looking at this one guy whose philosophy makes sense to me and who writes about concepts in a way that I can understand. Mostly.
