We're still working on a plan, but so far it involves being sent to prison and becoming somebody's bitch.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Oooh! Scola zines!

I have successfully achieved menopause at 56 on my third try. First I went 11 months without a period and then got one. Next time it was 10 and then got one. This time its been almost 14 months so I think I'm in the clear.

I am in favor of zines!

I don’t remember when the menopause took for good. Oh, wait, I have a record…looks like I was 51. Sorry to sop up earlier-than-averageness

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Every time it resets, I shake my fist. Come on, uterus! Shut it down already!

That's neat, Tom.

I was lucky with menopause even though it was due to hysterectomy at 38. In fact, bonus was no more migraines, which were highly manageable with Excedrin and long, dark naps, thank god, but it was still nice not to have them anymore.

Smooth transition to Tylenol-only for your mom, -t.

My dentist is so awesome. Got a crown yesterday, and I can't even tell today. Amazing. It was a bit sore last night as we got pretty close to the nerve, but 100% normal today.

I'm currently in a group chat where four of us are trying to nail down one, single date for dinner, and it is getting pretty hilarious. People are now just throwing out a date, and the responses are coming in single phrases. "Good" "Trial" "Chatham" -- so far, no four "goods" in a row. Into mid-November...

"The Senate today have voted to make me a god in Palmyra. They'll put a little statue to me in the temple, and people will bring offerings to me, asking me to bring rain or cure their father's gout. Tell me, Livia: if I'm a god, even in Palmyra, how do I cure gout?!" Augustus, "I Claudius"

Cool, Tom! As a retired librarian, I feel guilty for not even knowing what Coptic binding is. Thanks for the link.

Had to charge up my poor neglected personal laptop's battery and upgrade the OS before I could install Firefox but I did all that and was able to do a little work. Thinking I will see what lunch I can walk to shortly, I believe I should have a bunch of choices as downtown is just a couple of blocks away

Niece reports the OT is impressed with how well Mom is doing, so I am presuming the Tylenol/ibuprofen regimen is working out ok. Will head down again tomorrow so I'll get the full details then

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I wish I'd asked my doctor about HRT the instant I started having perimenopause symptoms. I'm on it now, and it has made a world of difference. When I had to go off it for a bit (breast cancer scare, everything's fine), the changes were noticeable. For one thing, when I'm on HRT, I don't have sobbing meltdowns multiple times a week.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

Fucking life-changing, and it's been less than 2 weeks. My OB/GYN did a blood test for my testosterone level and based on the results she added topical testosterone to my HRT cocktail. My understanding is full effects don't really kick in for 3 months or more, which feels like taking testosterone's effectiveness on faith for a while.

Progesterone has not made an appreciable effect on my sleep, which makes me sad. Though Dr. Google says "It often takes up to 2 weeks of consistent bedtime dosing to experience steady, full-night sleep improvements." And it hasn't been a full 2 weeks for me yet, so maybe my sleep will start improving in the very near future. Fingers crossed!
