I am still very very angry that JZ got so little time to make your new house her home, btw. At, like, the universe, I suppose. I don't need an object, as such, just want to make clear that it is not you.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

when we went to some sort of mod party (I remember trying to find a dress and boots that worked!
We went to Bardot-A-Go-Go! So not just mod but French Mod.

I'm at peace with it. It would be much worse if she'd never gotten to live here or help me design the rooms. Her touch is everywhere.
I don't believe in angels or afterlife but my consoling fiction is that her guardian angel saw that her lifetime would be brief. And they arranged it so that before she died she would help create a new home, and that she would begin writing again, and she would have one more season at Faire.
That's lovely
I also remember staying at that apartment. There's a lot of history in that space.
My sister came down for a week so I am trying to have a normal work day and let her take care of the parents but I don't know if it's possible to overstate how much I don't care about work right now.
Mom is getting a new cast, this one is orange (the first one was plain white)
Timelies all!
Congrats, David. I remember a small F2F at your apartment when we were staying with Gary's uncle who lived around the corner.
Mom *is* going to have to have surgery to get her wrist fully functional, they previously thought she would not. So that’s disappointing, but it sounds like with the surgery should eventually be able keep up her quilting which I know she would hate if she could not. Possibly a longer time before she is cast-free than 6-8 weeks, I’m guessing - the surgery isn’t scheduled yet.
Skipping and skimming a bunch. Shana Tova.
I think I might be getting Covid again. One of my students tested positive a few days ago, and I feel like crap in a way that feels very familiar.
Ugh, I'm sorry, Hil. That is a downside of working in a petri dish. I sincerely hope if positive it is a mild case. My doctor has told me that between the vaccines, and acquired immunity from having the dang thing 3 times already I should be okay this year.
My niece is a high school teacher, and she managed to get through the entire school year last year while undergoing chemo and radiation, and for the very first time, she didn't end up with the flu or bronchitis, or any of her usual illnesses over the winter season. She was super careful because she has asthma and takes these things seriously. She teaches Spanish, so she wasn't masked in front of the class, but she was always masked in the hallways and in the car to and from school with her teenage son. She slept in a separate room and kept her distance from everyone. It was a lot of effort, but it worked. She is back to being more relaxed now, and we all collected our backlog of hugs.
