So sad about Dolly. Such a light in this increasingly darkening timeline.

Guys, did you know that raw garlic kills sourdough starter? Well now, so do I...

Yes! It's antimicrobial and antibacterial. One reason it's so good for you. But not for sourdough. The allicin is a bit like sulfurophane in that it's best to do a chop-and-hold method before cooking to give the compound time to form. But, unlike broccoli, I think you only need to wait about 10 minutes, not 40. Or, for sourdough, cook it right away to inhibit the allicin formation.

Question for the job-bullsh*t hivemind: What's a diplomatic way to say "Why the f*ck would you expect something before the due date just because I received it early? The due date is the due date." My scheduled is jam-packed right now and I want to set expections for a project scheduled out to March.

Punishingly Intricate

I am so heartbroken about Dolly. I thought she’d somehow live forever.

Megan, “I’m on track to deliver by the agreed deadline.”

Our wings are not tired.

Very sad news about Dolly. She, Buffy, and my firstborn son were all born on the same day. Brendon loved sharing the day with her. She was really one of the good ones.

Megan, I think depending on who exactly is saying it and the power differential, (and if this is just happening or already happened? Like did they provide it early today and say since it’s early you’ll return early? Or did they provide it early back when, and now are saying shouldn’t you have it by now? “I appreciate receiving it earlier than expected but the deadlines were provided based on (available time/competing priorities/project availability /whatever sounds best) and any changes would need to be (confirmed/agreed upon ahead of time/whatever)”?

I can work with this.

Basically, the message is from the middleman from my former employer who said that production was expecting the first two chapters of my copyedit review yesterday (when on the schedule Ch 1 is due today and Ch 2 two weeks from now) because I received both chapters from the CE early. I'm sure my keeping to the schedule (which they set) is fine since the book is not going to be published any earlier than the date on the schedule regardless, but it really irks me that this company makes you jump through hoops to make sure you have other clients and are not an "employee" of theirs when you set up contracts but then seems to think you have no other clients and can just drop everything for them whenever something comes in. I think I'll go with some variation of “I appreciate receiving it earlier than expected but my schedule is based on the original deadlines provided.”

Thank you!

And now off to my membership library to try to make the actual deadline and borrow 9 to 5.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

So sad about Dolly

And I was thinking of the vampire slayer/garlic irony immediately but could not think how to put it in comprehensible words...

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Ha, the only finger on my left hand that is responding at all normally is the one I use for flipping people off. My occupational therapist had a good giggle over it: "C'mon, Karl, show me how you really feel about it."

That which does not kill you should RUN

“I appreciate receiving it earlier than expected but my schedule is based on the original deadlines provided.”

That sounds right. Better than "How about fuck no?"
