"safely home from the hospital" is good. "Probably scheduled" is less good. Make the effort to get clear communication and scheduling from the medical teams.
My uncle had a vascular dissection in a carotid artery back in the early '90s. It was severe, and affected him greatly, but he made significant recovery and is still with us thirty+ years later, so have hope.
My advice to you is to encourage you to to be diligent with all the follow-ups, especially any physical therapy. In my uncle's case, early effort did pay off later.

We actually managed to get Nikto to the vet this morning. It took over 30 minutes of chasing her around before we got her in the carrier, but it was done.
