Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

My dental woes are an implant and how fucking expensive that's proving to be.

Its allegedly covered by my insurance. No one who takes my insurance, however, is actually doing that. I've consulted three of them now. One I even just paid for the fucking exam (When I called and said "will you take the insurance for the implant" and they replied "yes we will take the insurance for the implant" I - like a fool apparently - made an appointment. Turns out they'll take the insurance and charge me an additional 5k. Um.... So I made an appointment at the dental school where I'm already doing my orthodontia. THEN the oral surgeon sends me a bill for the appointment.)

I hate these people. Should I have fought it? Probably? I'm too tired and the bill wasn't that big and there was an actual exam. Maybe I'll be spared a round of x-rays if they actually send them over.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Heh. I’ve been avoiding the dentist for what I thought was a few years. Then I realized I hadn’t been since before I was pregnant with ltc, and she is going to be 11 in August. My former dentist had been very angry at me when I refused X-rays while undergoing fertility treatment, and it triggered all my dental anxiety badly. So, now I need a bunch of dental work. The new dentist and hygienist seem to be nice so far, and they know about my severe dental anxiety.

Ugh, Trudy. It’s so frustrating trying to find someone that takes your insurance.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My dentist isn't in my insurance network, but they are giving me a discount and financing and I feel like dental insurance never really saved me much out of pocket anyway so I am going with it

Yeah, "Oh, we take it but we don't take it that way" or "Oh, we do the procedure but in a different way they don't cover" shouldn't count as "Yes! We'll take your insurance!"

They just sent me a single x-ray on my phone. That seems... odd? We'll let new dentist decide. NYU's Dental school has been great. The only reason I was switching was the coverage.

Their regular dental coverage has been great, so that's nice.

Booo root canals and useless dental insurance!!

I feel like we could’ve been so far on our way to universal healthcare in a EU/Canada way, had only a few minor things changed in our timeline, and instead we are getting worse now. Do not like this.

Punishingly Intricate

sj, I wouldn’t get dental X-rays when I was undergoing fertility treatment either, and I don’t have any dental phobia. I just couldn’t stand yet another medical procedure inflicted upon my body

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh, root canals. Although I will say the last time I had one the pain relief was so immediate I didn’t care that I was at the schmancy expensive dentist. I went from the student place, who gave me a temp crown but didn’t treat the infection, to a faculty dentist who was afraid to treat the infection because I have so many antibiotic allergies, to some dude who used a computer to painlessly give me a root canal and antibiotics for one million dollars. Like I had to take out a loan.

I have signed the papers to become the executor today. I have scheduled a (supposedly) neutral inspection of the house next week. The paralegal said that my legal fees might actually be much lower than the percentage of the estate quoted on the paperwork, that is just what they could charge.( which is frankly not that much? It seems fair for them to do all this stuff for me and for me to just sign things. Like, 4%.). They also lowballed the bank accounts on the court paperwork, I think to save me fees because I might not be selling the house. So I think they are nice people.

Congratulations on passing that hurdle, Sophia, and on having nice people to help you through it

lisah, I’m sure that was part of it too.
