Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

Ugh. Bought a new $60 night guard that I was really excited about. I got it this morning and boiled it to fit and put it in the case and put the case next to my bed.

The dog got the case, popped it open, and chewed it to tiny bits. I didn’t even get to wear it at night once!! I’m so mad. Like it’s not that I left it sitting around, even, it was in the case!!

Our wings are not tired.

Ugh, bad puppy! I had to learn the lesson a couple of times with my expensive earbuds.

My absolutely clueless-in-the-ways-of-the-world son messaged me at 7:15 to comment on how slow it was at work this morning. He got up early to get ahead of the Monday morning rush. I told him what was up and he has gone back to bed. 34 years old, brilliant, and clueless. I thought several times over the weekend to mention to him that today was a holiday, but didn't. I know he watches all the basketball tournament games and is on line all the time. You would think he would have noticed, and yet.

Enjoy the holiday! I only wish we would stop adding to the countless that are being memorialized.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Puppy! So naughty!

I just spent yesterday and today at the house with a rental car and now I know I can make the drive. I am so glad my mother got rid of my grandma and grandpas things, so the only things left that I am attached to are the things I asked her to keep, and a couple of pieces of furniture. And like, the actual house! Most of my mom’s stuff is things I bought her and like 10 canisters of coffee, 10 cartons of cigarettes 10, 000 underpants. Etc.

I think the worst ongoing expense will be taxes. There is school, village, town and county! Her electric is low but she alders buys heating oil and propane for the dryer and stove. I will not need her cable package. If my rent ever goes up to market value right now, this would be less.

Super quiet day! I've been working on computer stuff al day so really should give my eyes a break.

Anyone do anything fun over the holiday weekend?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary and I went to Balticon last weekend. Other than me tripping over my suitcase Friday night and scraping my right knee and right elbow, it was fun. It's kinda funny/strange that the current crisis, while worse than what has happened before, allowed Gary to attend the whole con. Sigh..

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda is home now and we started watching Hacks together.

Last Thursday I attended my friend Jes' drag show at Booksmith. That's always fun.

I'm shopping for a flat/condo for Emmett and his gf and this one is cute and in the right price range so I've requested a tour with them tomorrow: [link]

Feel free to Le Gasp at SF prices but they're actually about to soar upwards after the mega IPOs coming out soon by OpenAI and Anthropic.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I love the kitchen cabinet color in that flat, Hec!

I spent Memorial Day at my sister’s marina with her boater buddies. It was fun. Sunny, upper 70s with a breeze, plenty of food and drink. I’d kinda like to sneak something a little more adventurous into their rotation of bland 70s and 80s pop music, but since I’m getting free brats and shots, that seems a little churlish. Once I’m contributing a bit more, maybe I’ll introduce them to the wonders of Tom Waits.

I sent the link to Emmett and Kalena and Kalena said she'd just been looking at that listing.

Just talked to the real estate agent and we're trying to get a tour tomorrow afternoon.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

My friends were in town from Wednesday-today, so I spent a lot of wonderful time with them, watching TV and movies, with a two-day break in the middle to go to my MIL's funeral. So it's been an interesting week.
