Yes. Men like sports. Men watch the action movie, they eat of the beef, and enjoy to look at the bosoms. A thousand years of avenging our wrongs and that's all you've learned?

Thrive to spite them

My brother's neighbor was at the musical and it surprised my SIL. She said later the neighbor's mom has advanced cancer and the neighbor is her mom's primary caregiver but needed to get out of the house and just have an escape and going to the Musical really helped.

So if you ever need to just escape for a bit of cheap entertainment and also want to support your community try a local high school production. I'm going to see if there is anything with the local high school to support them.

Oh! And at the end of the show when the cast came out the students who had been in the audience mobbed them for autographs. It was so fun to watch the kids sign the playbills.

M suggested to E that he get some playabils and have the cast sign them all and send them to both his grandmas.

It was a quick visit but a good one and the drive is beautiful.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hugs to everyone missing their loved ones. Today is 3 years since my Papa died, quickly followed in the next two months by Father’s Day and his birthday. So, this has become a rough time of the year for me. Father’s Day has always been rough since Dad died when I was a toddler, but since Papa was the one who took over all those dad things it’s become so much harder. I want to call him every time I cook or eat something delicious since he was the best cook I ever knew.

That which does not kill you should RUN

So frustrating. Tim's lung collapsed again -- the same lung he had surgery on in 2022 specifically to prevent it from collapsing again. He went to the ER after midnight last night (I didn't go with him), and now he's being transported to a different hospital about 20-30 minutes from here. I'm slamming down coffee and cheerios so I can go meet him at the new hospital.

I'm pretty overwhelmed (not specifically from this; from my whole goddamn life in general), and I think I have been for a while and have just been ignoring it. And I'm going to have to do that a little while longer so I can go be the caretaker again.

And my hip is really painful today and if this hospital doesn't have valet parking I am going to stab someone. Walking from the parking lot, even with a cane, is going to suck.

Aha -- I'll check their website, and if no valet parking, I'll get an Uber.

Okay, valet parking yes. One problem solved.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh no, Tep! Good thinking on the valet parking or Uber thing. Will be thinking of you both.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That's awful, Tep, I'm sorry.

You are officially beleaguered.

Our wings are not tired.

Yikes, sending love and ~ma to you and Tim. Let us know what they have to say at the hospital. Yay Valet! And yes, the hip stuff is awful. Walking on tile and concrete is no fun.

Fixing the collapsed lung is complicated because of the surgery he had to prevent the lung from collapsing again (irony). Waiting for a doctor to explain what the next step is. Could be caused by pneumonia, although he doesn’t really have any symptoms (and apparently you can have walking pneumonia with minor or no symptoms, so it’s a possibility).

I am so fucking tired.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oh Tep, what an awful stressful situation.

Ethan had a health scare this weekend that turned out to be mostly a false alarm (most importantly, it was Not A Heart Attack), but still needed an overnight hospital stay which meant I wound up driving to Boston late Friday night to help Dylan move out of his dorm. I drove home around 2pm yesterday which made it almost exactly 24-hours round trip and I never want to see another car again as long as I live.
