Interesting. I have it installed and often take the suggestions, and well, often ignore it too. But it does catch stupid type stuff quite efficiently. (it had a bunch of suggestions on the pasted comment)
Grammarly definitely catches the stupid stuff, which means most of what I'm writing. The issue is that basically beiges everyone's voice so we all sound the same. Kids with beige writing voices already (meaning they write in the academic voice that is correct, but dull), do sound like AI. So for them to prove they aren't AI is a lot of work. Of course most voices are created by writing quirks (like my love a semi-colon).
I do use AI. Less now than last year. I spend a fair amount working through an idea with AI, but my urge to have it make me more efficient has waned. I actually am less concerned about being increasingly productive for a system that just wants to grind me up and spit me out for as cheap as possible.
msbelle, Grace took English 101. I created a GPT for her to use to help her think through her long paper but it wouldn't give her answers or write anything for her. Would ask her leading questions though.
I definitely didn't see the lunar eclipse, but the Griffith Observatory's video of it is kinda cool. [link]
Trying another book club at the same bookstore tonight (I have another this weekend at a different bookstore - so social!) This one is a weekly thing for several months on The Book of Alchemy with book discussions alternating with maybe journaling sessions or crafting or whatever. I told the bookstore owner ai’d be out of town for a month and she wasn’t fazed, and I bought another blank journal (I assume it’s blank, haven’t actually opened it) to go with the book. I think it will be good, and if every week gets to be too much it sounds like just not showing up occasionally would not be terrible. We’ll see.
I need to not eat out every week between work and book club, though. Even with happy hour prices this is unsustainable.
-t, I've been working through the Book of Alchemy with my students. It's been enjoyable to write!
Went up a dose on Zepbound, and godddddd the insomnia is real. I need Tim to clonk me in the back of the head with a frying pan and knock me out Looney Tunes style.
Cool! First meeting was pretty nice. It was a *lot* of people and apparently there are regulars who told the owner in advance that they wanted to do this but wouldn’t be able to make it tonight, so there will presumably be even more next time, but everyone seems nice and interested in what other people have to say, I think it’ll be good.
Gonna mess up my watching Josh Johnson YouTubes but I can catch up on Wednesdays while I WFH
Getting the dosage right on frying pan head clonking is very hard, Tep. Pretty bad side effects. Hopefully some alternative treatment will be effective
Insomnia is a side effect I hadn't heard about! Interesting! I've mostly just had the occasional nausea, and burping.
I realized this week I went dancing tonight (Tuesday), have a meeting for the dance programming committee tomorrow, Thursday I am DJing, Friday I am dancing, and Saturday I am DJing. No wonder I feel like there's too much dancing stuff going on! (Thankfully next week it'll be back to our usual just twice a week, not five times!)
(Still OK, nothing new to report. Hanging in there).
It looks like a road crew is finally getting around to doing something about the gravel-filled sewer repair hole that's been in front of my house for weeks. So far it's just removing the metal plates partially covering the mess, but I'm crossing my fingers that repaving is on the agenda sometime today (rather than digging things back up).
