meara, I think the problem is that I don't think of myself as a middle-aged lesbian! I guess I think of Brandi Carlile as predominantly drawing the same crowd as Glennon Doyle or Elizabeth Gilbert. That flavor of white lady. Maybe it's because when I was in my big live music listening times (like my early twenties) Carlile was decidedly not on the scene. Like it doesn't ping me that the Indigo Girls are OLD. Carlile's a little younger than I am, I think... more elder millenial than Gen X... so I thought her crowd would be younger.

Hahaha I can see that. I have several friends who have attended her “girls just wanna” weekend in Mexico, though I have not because I don’t really know any of her music.
