Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

To my friends from LiveJournal
I still think abou you
Wonder if you finally quit,
Do you still speak to your mom?
I remember when you went to Japan
How you swore you’d never forgive him.
I can’t remember to take my meds but
I remember you wanted to live on a houseboat.
It’s a strange intimacy,
all of us unspooling across decades of internet space
Like balls of yarn
leaving a trail behind us of everywhere
and everyone we’ve ever been
I hope you got your houseboat.
I hope you got everything.
—Haley DeRoche
I hope you got your houseboat.
Narrator: "Laura, did not get her houseboat."
Happy Gotcha Day!
Happy Re-Org!
Snitches Get Stitches Update: I have removed the pressure bandage from my forehead so I no longer look like I'm wearing a maxi-pad on my face. However, I now have visible stitches (underneath the steri-strips). Still not taking the pressure bandage on my arm because I'm more likely to bump my arm than my head.
I am trying to get some mail out the door. Do the thing, Zhu-Li! [Korra ref.]
This afternoon I am stealing my children from their regularly scheduled lives to go get the Xmas tree and set it up.
I just figured out that Matilda's Xmas break is way longer than either one of us thought: from Dec. 13th to January 26th. She'll pick up some more shifts at work and will, no doubt, enjoy the time with her beau. But I'm looking forward to having a housemate again.
Aw, I love (and feel) that poem, Tom.
Yay, Christmas tree shopping! I am good with holiday spirit, but I do not have the omph for the ginormous tree this year... I feel like that may be a permanent state. I think I would be fine with a 5 footer, but that's about it.
I should try to sell the big one for a modest sum -- it's a really nice one, and the lights all still work, but it's too much bigness anymore.
I bought a one color per page coloring book, and it is so cool. I can absolutely get lost in it. FB totally pegged me with that ad. (I mean, obvi, you could use more colors, but the single color with the white shapes is super cool, and not having to stop and think about which color next and where is very soothing.) I'm finally using my markers that have a paintbrush-like tip. Super fun.
Aw, LiveJournal. Those were the days.

Oh, neat! I'm slowly going through recorded, uh, seminars? Workshops? Thingies from a conference for nature journaling. Anyway, doing that with my mom and some of them are, like, art techniques you might want to explore or whatever. The one we did last involved "brush pens" which might be what you are talking about? Pretty neat. Today is something about data visualization which will probably be a change of pace from the art stuff, but who knows?
I saw my doctor about my hip, and she said it sounds like a labrum tear, and the next step is an MRI, and presumably after that I see an orthopedist. At least if I need surgery it would be arthroscopic. In the meantime I have steroids, which should help the pain, and I have an excellent Reuben for lunch.

That sounds right (I just went out, so i can't check the actual name). I love them.
Nature journaling sounds cool!
Steph, I hope it's as smooth a road to pain free hipdom as possible.
Yay, Reuben and I hope the pain relief is immediate and thorough

Good job self-diagnosing, bio-medical editor!

Dang, your household is really getting hit with the surgical repairs this year. Have you considered asking for fewer medical emergencies?

A round of steroids and reubens for my friends!
I have boxed up three
(3!)
whole boxes to mail, and am about to traipse off to the P.O. Mail often gets bottlenecked at the getting it in boxes and addressed stage, so this is a minor triumph.
Have you considered asking for fewer medical emergencies?
Damn it, I knew I forgot to do something! Maybe I can fix that going forward.
