Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ha, I did bring my poncho in! Score!

And it stopped raining long enough for me to get out to the car without using it. Mixed feelings on that one.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

EM's regularly scheduled Tuesday visit, happened today instead (because Pilates is closed for Thanksgiving week, and today's session was "independent and optional". I opted to not.)

The table got cleared of many things in prep for Thanksgiving, and EM will come over on Wednesday and help with housecleaning etc.

But also I did the following:

1. Scheduled surgery for Moh's procedure and melanoma excision on Dec. 1. (Next available was in January).

2. Contacted window specialist who installed our curved windows to have him come by and close my damn window which is stuck open. (And it's very cold in my place, because...)

3. Scheduled visit by HVAC specialist to fix the heat in my place which has been dysfunctional for a while.

4. Reached out to neighbor for her housecleaning service, so I can get some regular cleaning here, as I'm in a perpetual state of behind.

So executive function exercised.

Also, Matilda's friend Mia is joining us for Thanksgiving for the fourth year in a row, and that is lovely news. We love having her.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

...window which is stuck open...heat in my place which has been dysfunctional for a while

Not a good combination. Worse in SF in November, I imagine.

I wish you quick, easy, and inexpensive fixes.

That was a very long day. I am very tired. Fourth and final shift at the sale tomorrow afternoon, but at least I don’t have to put in a regular office AM beforehand

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

hell of a week. Great week to see my employer make international news for a jaw-droppingly terrible policy call. And then reverse themselves within 18 hours. Maybe someone should have thought of the likely response first? Sigh.

but tomorrow I will go for a bike ride, then go wine tasting with my sister & niece, then host some friends to watch Pluribus. So not so bad tomorrow!

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

My first reaction when I saw the news about the terrible policy call was, "Are we going to have to send Suela with Mr Pointy to have words with the brass?"

I like to think the Powers That Be heard my question and decided to take care of it.

I want absolutely nothing to do with the brass, Karl! I don't want them to know I exist or what my name is...

Sounds like a perfect way to wash off the rest of the week.

It has been an exhausting week here as well. My MIL is not doing well at all with her rehab. Non-compliant for the most part. She had surgery on the 12th and still yesterday needed 4 aides to get her from bed to a chair, and although she will stand, she won't walk. She did say she loves the bike. We go back and forth between thinking there has to be something wrong that she is still in so much pain, or that she really needs to work through the pain. She keeps talking about all the things she wants us to do to her place so she can go home, but obviously, that won't happen until she can take care of herself. In the past we have been amazed with her pain tolerance, so that leaves us confused as to why she is in such apparent distress. One day at a time.
