Oh, that does look worth getting to a theater for!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
The local Stumptown Coffee hung stills from the movie on the walls as artwork. They were all dioramas of Portland. Absolutely gorgeous!
Oh, very cool! Alas, that I have no local Stumptown
I love both of them, but the previews for that looked so stressful! Was it stressful?
I don't recall it being that stressful, but also, my favorite movie thus far this year has been The Drama, so I might not be a good judge of all that.
I am not into the whale movie because I read a short story a while back about a whale fall that was really good and this movie looks nothing at all like that story, so I resent that it has that title.
In fairness to the movie, it is based on a book. With the same title. Whalefall, not Stupid Whale Movie. I haven't read it, and thus I cannot say if it is Stupid Whale Book. People seem to like it, I guess?
I have read Klara and the Sun, however, and if Taika's back in full form with this one, he's an excellent match for the source. The book comes right to the edge of "any movie would be a disappointment", but thankfully, unlike The Power of the Dog, doesn't go over that edge. I hear the movie for the latter is great, but the writing in the book is so mind-blowingly amazing that I just couldn't watch it.
I've had Klara and the Sun in my TBR for a looooooong time. I may get to it now that there's a movie...
Whalefall the book is definitely not what I read. I cannot remember the title of what I read but it was more SF, just an entirely different story. I am being totally irrational in rejecting the movie for not being the story that it is not in fact based on.

I might be misremembering the preview. Coleman and Cumberbatch were fighting, but it was supposed to be funny (?), and maybe they were trying to kill each other (??), and the more I type the more that sounds insane, so I'm probably misremembering it/conflating it with another movie.
The only thing I’m looking forward to is the new Laika film, Wildwood.
I will see that in theaters and I'm pretty much down to Wes Anderson and Miyazaki films for that nowadays.

Oh, no, they were totally doing that. It's the second movie to be based on the novel, The War of the Roses. So if you watched that in the 1980s, it's that kind of thing.
Despite Regal having royally messed up the seating when they had to switch auditoriums (apparently, we were all supposed to psychically know we had to go to the customer service desk to figure out where our seats were, as no one told us, and this was a nearly sold-out show) and us having to sit closer to the front than usual because the assigned seats I had did not even exist (my movie buddy's okay with that, but she's also tall, and therefore does not get a neck crick), You Can See Everything was perhaps the biggest mindfuck I can remember seeing in a theatre. It did not feel like three hours. At all.
According to my husband who knows me very well, the whale movie is too gross for me to enjoy. Alas, because I do love a good whale/toxic masculinity metaphor.
