We go to a lot of movies when we are north for the summer. Last night we watched Diggers. Now, I have not watched a Tom Cruise movie since Risky Business because his movies just aren't my thing, and neither is he. However, Diggers was just plain awful. Half of the audience left before it ended. The 4 of us stuck it out, although one of us fell asleep. We used to say that Drowning Mona was the worst waste of talent we ever saw in a movie, but this surpassed it. There were others in the theater who liked it, so your movie preference may vary.
Buffista Movies Across the 8th Dimension!
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

It's gotten terrible reviews and is considered a major flop.
The trailer looked like it was for a Will Ferrell "comedy" to me. Do Not Want, even if the star weren't someone I have a very low opinion of.
It's wild that it's doing so poorly. The PCHH team kinda liked it, although they were uncertain about some things. It was an interesting discussion anyway.
We all understood the premise well enough, it was just not interesting to watch. No likeable characters, no great score, no fascinating sets or costumes. There were others in the theater who enjoyed it, as it is such a tiny place that the locals all gather to discuss in the lobby after the show. Of the few of us that didn't leave early we mostly felt it was 2 hours of our lives we would never get back.
It was likely the execution because I think if I had read it as a book, it would have worked for me.
ltc chose Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for our movie tonight. I’m so proud.
The trifecta of Do Revenge, Weapons, and Resident Evil have caused an unfortunate "Austin Abrams performance appreciation" situation, which means I'm going to be seeing the stupid whale movie when I can figure out which day makes sense for my schedule. (My usual Regal is undergoing renovations, so half the auditoriums are out of service while they upgrade to recliner seats, which means I have to figure out how to go far afield for it or bite the bullet and go see it downtown.)
More importantly, however, I'm going to see You Can See Everything tomorrow. I will report back.

I was discovered the book Whale Fall at a bookstore a month ago and was fascinated by it without knowing it was being made into a movie.
My claustrophobia will absolutely not tolerate the movie anymore than I was ever going to watch The Descent so I'll eagerly await your review.
I expect it will be something along the lines of, "THE THINGS I DO FOR GOOD ACTING HURT ME." or something.
Speaking of good acting, I fucking loved Primetime. Not a bad performance in the bunch. (I was in it for Acting + Vibe, and it delivered on both.)
Shreddies
Woo! It's showing in one of the upgraded theatres now. Stupid whale movie ticket acquired.
Back half of October is packed for me: You Can See Everything, Spirited Away, Stupid Whale Movie, and Klara and the Sun are all purchased, and I still have to get tickets for Horny Wickerman and a few others.
