Ann, that's a ferret.

Sister-in-law wanted to go to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner. It's her first Thanksgiving with the family in some years, and she's in very poor health. So seven of us went to Golden Corral (me, Hubs, Sister-in-Law, Brother-in-Law (as in, brother to Hubs and Sister-in-Law), Sister-in-Law's 30-something daughter, and Brother-in-Law's two teenage kids.

It went pretty well. The wait to get a table wasn't too long. The food was adequate-to-good, except there weren't any baked beans (and I was able to ignore the completely-outside-Thanksgiving-tradition foods like pizza). Hyper-libertarian niece made no outrageous statements and only one questionable remark. Extremely religious nephew doesn't make outrageous remarks, so I felt more tolerant amusement for the big cross on the chain around his neck than anything else.

I'm at work today. Two of us are here out of a division of 16 people. Neither supervisor is here.

In other matters, Jesse, what's your budget? Back when a wedding shower meant the couple needed just about everything for housekeeping, my mother's go-to gift was a kitchen trash can filled with little things that people wouldn't normally think of -- a potato peeler, measuring spoons, that sort of thing.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Tim is getting ready to go camping with his brothers and assorted nieces and nephews. I'm going to work today, because my November invoice is due Monday, so I might as well put more hours on it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Good morning! I feel like I bogarted the happy yesterday, we had a lovely holiday. Went on a long walk by the cliffside with my sister and her friend, then came back and started cooking and basically hung out and cooked and ate all day. Watched the Aardman pirate movie and went to bed. It's nice to only be with the family I like as well as love.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Potato peeler is a good one! I figure he's not going to be cooking anything elaborate, but he may want to make some food. My mother also suggested a waffle maker or George Foreman grill or something, which seemed like a great idea. Budget is $50.

Ooh, I'm going to go click through the Amazon affiliate link and see what I can find there.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

So, day 2 post ER and I'm starting to feel more human. I got dressed, came down stairs, and puttered around a bit before sitting and I didn't feel like I had to rest up before I could relax. Not ready to go out and walk any stores, so I'm glad I didn't have any Black Friday plans. My lungs are playing nice but this darned cold hasn't let up any. Maybe I'll be healthy for the two weeks I'm taking off at the end of the year.

Sunday at the stables is our welcome party for our new horse Challenger. This is the gypsy horse we won over the summer through that facebook contest. He is less than 2 years old and hasn't been saddle broken yet, so it will be a while before he is working in our program, but I don't think anyone cares. We are so excited to have him.
