That's the thrill of living in the Hellmouth! There's a veritable cornucopia of fiends and devils and ghouls to engage ... Pardon me for finding the glass half-full.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Maria, glad your family is safe.

Ugh. It's awful.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In better news, revise my weekend plans to include setting up and staring at my hotass new TV. Is it weird that I'm going to save that until tomorrow afternoon? I can't get over how cheap and light it is.

brillig

I've been cleaning out a corner of my office, found a box of genealogy stuff I got from my mother, including pictures of me when very small. "Oh, I have to go show him, he loves seeing old pictures of me."

I think I'm done cleaning for the night.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Death toll in Paris is up to 158. Fuck.

One hundred killed in the concert hall, Bataclan.

Jesus. I came up to the Y lobby to see people clustered around the tv. Saw a stadium field, thought "oh, just a game and left." Got home and had left the radio on and PRI's The World was on live and suddenly the context of the lobby completely changed.

Glad your family is all accounted for, Maria.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I hope your family stays safe, Maria.

Such horrible news. I haven't told my kids yet, but I probably should.

I am going to a party tonight for a good friend who moved across the country, but she's back in town for the weekend. Kids are having a friend over for a sleepover. It's times like this I feel enormously grateful for living in such a safe feeling bubble.

Wow, have not been on the interwebs (at least not the newsy parts) all day, had no idea about the paris stuff! Glad your family is OK Maria.

Spent the day hanging with my friend, checking out coworking spaces, and making plans for our trip to South America. Then I tried to book my tickets and the website crapped out on me (after letting me pick my seats!). And then I called, and the airline person was like "Um...." and was having technical difficulties. Not happy. If the seats disappear I will be seriously displeased (since my friend booked her ticket separately but the plan was to be on the same flight down!) But I'm hoping it will be a supremely awesome trip.

It's kinda windy out and my cats are completely nuts.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh wow. My theatre boss is in Paris, but is safe. You are right, Maria, Facebook is really good for this sort of connection.
