Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Oy, sara. I applaud your desire not to burn the entire bridge. It would be nice to see you less stressed though.

Burrell, I find wine is great for those times I don't give a shit.

Yay, Ginger! Mr Peabody, please don't gift your human with anything except love and affection.

Dana, insent. Lemme guess, no human rights for anyone except white, male, Republican Texans?

I like to think the pro-city people lost the last 150 votes with the last-minute flyer that used a dark photo of Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed to threaten voters in neighborhoods near Atlanta that if they didn't vote for cityhood, their neighborhoods would be annexed by the scary black man. The icing on the cake: it misspelled the Toco Hills neighborhood Tocco Hills throughout.

The ballot consisted of six judicial positions, five of which were uncontested.

I've thought that it makes exactly as much sense to elect judges as to elect Brain Surgeons.

As to the Ohio Pot initiative. I suspect a lot of the "no" vote was based on the belief that as written in granted growing monopolies to a very small group. I don't know for sure if that argument is true; no report I saw contested the monopoly charge. Given the level of our press, that lack unfortunately proves little.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Woke up at like 3:30 in a panic about work and also with my head full of music from last Sunday. Ugh. I read some and more or less went back to sleep after a while. I would like a job that does not wake me up in a panic, but I don't think that's a thing for me anymore!!

Preach. You're too high up the food chain now though. I'm in the same boat. This NM deal has suddenly filled my calendar with internal meetings, emails that come in at 6 am, and phone calls that start at 7. Remember, you didn't lose the money!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Not thrilled to be waking up early this am (thanks, ObamaDaylight Savings Time!), but I got in a mile and a half walk up and down the Delmar Loop while it was cool outside, and ate blueberry pie for breakfast at the Peacock Loop Diner. [link]

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That sucks, Jesse. I am glad that I ca mostly leave my work at work. Mostly.

I am having a morning. Couldn't find my work ID (that gets me into the building) or my car keys (used my spare), none of my clothes fit the weather or my body, my hair looks overdue for a cut (does hair grow faster in the fall?) and I've been at work for nearly an hour and haven't gotten my coffee yet because of urgent stuff that showed up in my inbox overnight. Bah.

But I have my schedule for the outlet sale - I'll be on the floor 12/3 (which is also the first day) 11-6 and 12/11 10-6 if anyone wants to trek out to Fairfield for kitchen stuff 30% off. There will be a coupon for ordering online, too (I assume, there always has been in the past) which I will post or put in my profile when it's available.

Couple of hours before the presentation I'm not ready for. Whee.

Ha! If anyone had lost the money, it most certainly would not have been me! I just would have had to eat shit on behalf of the people who did. BYGONES!

You can do it, -t!

I started eating candy too early, and am sort of regretting that I have now remembered the best of all candy bars -- Take 5! I forget about it for years at a time.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I don't know for sure if that argument is true; no report I saw contested the monopoly charge. Given the level of our press, that lack unfortunately proves little.

All I have is anecdotal evidence, but I heard a lot of people say they were opposed to it because of the monopoly factor. And there was another issue on the ballot specifically written to prevent monopolies, so if that issue passed AND the pot issue passed, then the pot issue would have been DOA.

As it turn out, the anti-monopoly issue did pass, but it didn't directly affect the pot issue anyway, since that issue didn't pass. (Too bad the the people behind the anti-monopoly issue didn't care enough to put it on the ballot before the casino issue passed.)
