Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Individual info does not go our employer. My dr faxes directly to insurance and the website for questions and logging stuff is the insurance, not company.
Our smoking thing this year is a penalty, not a discount. So smokers get a $50/mo penalty. To get premium back to normal level they have to do the wellness stuff.
Mom went into the hospital Friday fir "symptoms" that ended being due to new medications. There was fluid and low potassium levels, so they kept her over the weekend and dad picked her up on Sunday. He didn't call me until just before he was ready to get her, which, honestly, I was grateful for. I would have spent the weekend worrying over what ended up being minor. But I still expected the phone call to go the way the one about Chris went initially. If nothing else, I'm going to start looking for a job closer to home because this distance is killing me.
ION, the goats are gone, the plants are gone, the art is gone, it's so bland now. Except not really, because the fall color at work is astounding. There's a spice bush by the service porch that's electric, the color is so intense. After such a dry summer, I'm amazed at how superb the fall color is. The monks hood is still blooming and the Amsonia is vibrant on the Perennial Border. Just stunning.
Timelies all!
Feh. I hate driving to and from work in the dark. At least my lab has big windows, so I can see the sun even if I'm not out in it.
Thunderstorm. And flash flood watch, but not in the immediate area. My coworkers are freaking out. It is unusual for these parts, but really, it's not that bad.
The people handling the rollover from my pension from a former employer are deeply stupid. I spent part of the day trying to track down money that was supposed to be rolled over today. They said that once the amount was "rolled over," they had no idea where it was. I had assumed it was done electronically, but noooo.
I got the mail and discovered that they sent a check made out to Brokerage Company, My 401K Account, to MY address by regular mail. I had, of course, given them the correct address. Now I have to mail it and worry some more. Do I feel like dealing with crap like this?
Ugh, Ginger. Also, that sounds familiar, I think I had a similar thing happen.
I still don't know if I'm supposed to vote tomorrow. There must be an easy way to find out, right?
The Royals' World Series victory parade starts tomorrow at noon just one block from where I work. Higher-ups have declared, "Those who want to work from home may do so. Those who come in, you may go join the festivities at 11:00 a.m. if you want to. The workday will resume at 3:00 p.m."
It's going to be a wild and crazy day. I doubt much actual work is going to be accomplished.
That's awesome dcp! One of my friends in Seattle just posted on FB that the only thing she remembers from second grade is her mom taking her out of school to watch the last World Series victory parade, so she's flying back to Kansas City to see this one!
I'm pretty sure I would stay home, having avoided every sports celebration in places where I've lived, but that's just me!
I am so tired of getting home at 9! Or, tired from getting home at 9. Tomorrow it's just voting, and then another Fun Event on Wednesday, but after that I should be able to go to bed by 7. Or, you know, 10.
