I just made the best French toast of my life. I had some rye bread going stale--not my go-to French toast loaf, but I didn't want to waste it and I wanted French toast. So I doubled the vanilla and cinnamon in the batter. This met the sourness of the rye and transformed it into a richness with just a hint of bitter. And the bitter met the maple syrup and butter to turn into something wonderful. I'm all aboard the rye French toast boat now.
Yeah, I think I need French toast now (though we have no rye bread).
I forgot to buy lemons. Ugh. I'm doing well to be out of bed.
Grocery store line is long. Chipotle run is cancelled alas. I don't need to carry these germs into a restaurant.
Went out for dim sum, which was awesome. Now baking cookies.
I slept 12 hours, which hopefully will compensate for the time change and let me function normally next week. Ended up skipping breakfast AND lunch as a result, but it's not as if I can't stand to miss a meal or two.
Upon reflection, I think I probably have the flu rather than a cold. The blinding headaches and muscle aches probably should have been a clue.
Oh no, shrift. Can you still stay home from work? I mean: stay home from work!
