Buffy. When I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. Turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of 'apocalypse.'

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Steph, my husband laughs at those Jackass guys but I'm with you, they are horrible. That said, he thinks they are horrible too, but it's some weird visceral part of his brain that laughs his head off.

I don't even understand how the movie studio got insurance to film those things, because a lot of what those idiots did is dangerous (and stupid, of course) as hell.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Went to the library to pick up a DVD I requested from another system. The little guy is still being a bit fussy, especially around feedings.

Our wings are not tired.

Aw, I hope the little guy improves as the day goes by.

My sister's a conservative Republcan, and Trump scares the hell out of her. (She likes Carson, but no one's perfect and hey--not Trump.)

I'm hoping Rubio will keep it close enough that they'll end up with a brokered convention. At which point the PTB will chose Rubio, Trump will go off in a snit and run third party, and the Dem will win.

Calli is me except it is my bother that loves Carson.

I'd love Rubio just to not be the senator from Florida anymore. The concept of him or Trump or Cruz as president is too upsetting to consider. My #1 fear is Hillary getting the nomination and the Bernie supporters not showing up to vote. My son is among the Bernie fanatics that just insist that Hillary is lying scum, etc., and would never ever vote for her. I would be delighted to vote for either of them and hope to see them carry a bunch of Senate, House, and Governor seats over to my side too. But people gotta vote.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The meme comparing Trump to Hitler is so clear, and why so many people can't see that is terrifying to me.

I'm thinking more Berlusconi, myself. I saw a great tweet from an Italian yesterday that was just spot-on. We need more people talking about Berlusconi.

I have two coworkers who are Trump fans: one actually is a delegate in the Nevada caucuses. For a while he was answering his (office) phone "Trump's Campaign Headquarters" or something. Which is SUCH a violation of the Hatch Act, I cannot even believe it.

Both these guys are fairly nice people, but I am kind of avoiding them because I can't even begin to understand what they're thinking. I have no confidence that our budget will continue as it is under President Trump, and I keep worrying what Trump could do to the nation's environmental infrastructure in concert with a Republican Congress.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Which is sort of me - I'll happily vote for either one over any of the Republican candidates (where are the sane and compassionate Republicans? have they all abandoned the party?). But I will be voting in the primary, dammit.

What with being a born-and-bred Alabaman married to an Oklahoman, I have a lot of Republican relatives and high school classmates that I've reconnected with on Facebook. So far I've seen exactly one, a high school classmate I didn't know very well even then, who's a gung-ho Trump supporter. I ended up blocking him because it wasn't worth elevating my blood pressure being mad at that distant a connection, but his posts reminded me of nothing so much as the uglier side of sports fandom. Not just vicarious thrill of victory, but a sort of pleasure in causing the other side's misery. Which I can't in honesty claim to have never experienced as a sports fan--when your team upsets another team with a particularly arrogant and entitled-acting fan base, I'm not so virtuous as to not enjoy the sad fan reaction shots. But when it's the fate of a nation we're talking about, that sort of drunk-seeming, "Woooo! Our turn now!" business is damn terrifying.

But the rest of those Republican friends and relatives? Pretty much the same dismay and contempt for Trump I'm feeling. Lately there's a lot of plaintive, "Why can't Kasich or Rubio get any traction?" Now, how many of them will cross parties to vote for Hillary or Bernie or just stay home if Trump is the nominee, I couldn't begin to guess.

And, yeah, I find myself a lot more seriously wishing I had some kind of personal exit strategy than I did even in the Bush years. I mean, it's just within the realm of possibility that Dylan could work overseas or in Canada--we have friends with various tech companies on long-term assignments in France and England, f'rex. Me, NSM. Unless I somehow become a wildly best-selling author, my professional skills are research administration within the American funding environment. But mostly we just make bleak jokes about the line at the Peace Arch border crossing extending all the way down I-5 into Seattle on election night if the worst comes to pass...

Oof. Still have headache from yesterday. Even after sleeping many hours. Hoping the latest dose of painkiller and coffee will make it go away. Please.

If only Trump were that easy to make go away...I think my crazy racist brother is a Trump fan, but I've already blocked him on Facebook before this election, because he was already nuts.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My best friend posts stuff supporting Trump to facebook all the time. But a job dealing with people at their worst in a majority black city has left him irrevocably racist and angry that he's not enjoying the benefits of white privilege people with jobs in predominantly white cities do, so Trump's propaganda is tailor-made to appeal to him.

Our wings are not tired.

I have enthusiastic Trump supporters among my FB fans. I won't bother to engage until after the primaries are over. They will likely end up blocking me this summer when it is ON. I do point out when any side posts all out lies, because I do appreciate it if I share something false and it is brought to my attention. But mostly just ignoring until it gets closer to showtime.
