this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Are you able to get any work done, or were you able to take a little time off?

I did a little work but not all of it; the freelance coordinator was very understanding, thank god.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

So, all the Republicans apparently have formally agreed to not permit any SCOTUS judge hearings until after the election.

I really hate those guys.

Oh, oops. I forgot which parent knew all the details and which one didn't. (Jeff told mom about his drinking, but he didn't tell Dad.) And Dad just called to see how things were going, and I said "Well, Jeff is seeing his therapist right now, and hopefully they're discussing his drinking."

Dad: "He's drinking again?"

Ooops.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

In re politics: I heard, kind of second-hand, that Ted Cruz has said Hillary Clinton should be in jail. oy

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I really hate those guys

Me too. Not surprised though.

Teppy, and Consuela, and probably others-- I was tied up with other stuff yesterday, so I didn't get to comment, but I am sorry for the tough family stuff you are going through, and admire the hell out of you for doing it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wouldn't worry about keeping your brother's secrets, Steph....

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh lord, I'm *that* person, who tells you to do the thing you were going to do anyway--I hate that person, I wind up then *not wanting* to do the thing I was going to do.

Yep. My sister is that person. I didn't realize there was a whole genus of them. Tells you what to do just as you're about to do it. She's basically just being a micromanaging mommy at everyone. She doesn't even realize she's doing it at this point, I don't think. She's actually told me to put on my shoes before going outside.

Everybody else feeling okay? Sniffles? Fever? General malaise? Sending better~ma, and for those of you doing fine, keep that up, m'kay?

I have sniffles and general malaise. Thanks for the ~ma.

I can't remember what day it is. This morning I woke up thinking it was Wednesday, even got ready for the Wednesday meeting. This afternoon I spent a little while thinking it was Sunday. Is this a specific form of dementia?

brillig

Is this a specific form of dementia?

Part of my morning ritual is to remind myself what day it is. Sometimes I have to check the computer to be sure, then I pull up a website for date and time to double check.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, it is not on you to remember who knows what, Tep. Just like Captain Lance said, we are only as sick as our secrets.

My new work 3-month calendar for 2016 has weeks starting on Monday instead of Sunday, which is totally reasonable except I'm not used to it so I am always confused about either what day of the week it is or what the date is. Always.

There's a difference, I think, between telling someone to do something they are going to do anyway, and giving someone permission to do something they are going to do anyway. Subtle, but important.

Y'all, I got to see the nomination for this award thing and it's signed by EVERYONE in my department. I t heart my coworkers

-t, they appreciate you! As they should.

Yeah, really glad for my cellphone telling me the date and time. And keeping up with all my other crap. How did I manage before smartphones? Oh, right, badly.
