The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Congrats Sean!

I managed to screw up my auto pay water bill, because I didn't remember to switch it from the old out of date credit card to the new one. They didn't turn off the water though--all it cost me was a small fine and a lot of embarrassment.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Congrats, Sean!

I'm sorry this is hitting you so hard, Gud. You made a mistake but you also already fixed it. Try to give yourself a break, you have a lot on your plate.

it's kind of horrifying that they would turn the water off for a bill that's (at most) one month late.

I was somehow under the impression that they couldn't do that? Maybe it depends on where you are.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Sean, how wonderful! Glad to see you so happy.

Gud, I have almost had the power and water turned off more times than I can count. I never used autopsy, partly out of a foolish belief that it wasn't really the "right" way to do it and more recently because I was never sure I'd have the money when it withdrew. I hope both you and your wife can shake your heads, tweak your system, and let it go.

eta auto pay, not autopsy. DYAC

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Congratulations, Sean! May you and your DW have many happy years together.

Gud, I'm sorry about the water bill stuff. It happens to many of us. I once got a "last notice before cut off" for a utility bill that had slipped under some other papers and likewise slipped my mind. That made me revamp my whole bill handling process.

All y'all clearly give more fucks about financial responsibility than I do. So feel good about that.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I'm with you -t. I do live by myself, though. When I lived with an ex and forgot the electric bill and we were turned off I was beside myself. I just paid my rent, due the first. I have sitopay but I didn't have enough in the account on the day.

Because books.

What a sad week. I can't believe Alan Rickman is gone, too.

Except Sean's news is very happy! So that's awesome. Congratulations!

Gud, try to be easy on yourself, like everyone said. In the scheme of things, it's not a huge mistake, especially as it's already fixed. Speaking as someone who has had every major utility turned off more than (like, a lot more, if mostly for no actual funds), chalk it up to a bad week, an oversight, whatever, but don't think of it as a major failure. It's being human. We all make mistakes sometimes.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Sean, congratulations to you and your bride and your ready-made family. Tons of joy and good things wished to all of you!

Hugs for Gud--(do we hug? are we too manly?) Living with others' opinion of your failings is something only you can manage. But you are the keeper of your self-worth, and no one else's opinion has undue influence on that. You are by all accounts a wonderful provider, an excellent father, a partner who goes out of his way to make your family's lives easier and more fun. You're an author and a homework coach, and heaven knows what other sterling qualities you have to recommend you. You're a good person, and even good people make mistakes. Like...holding a grudge against someone for an indefinite period for an infraction that was fixed quickly and with no harm done.

(Hands all of you bricks) We're building a defensive wall around Tim Curry, who is also 69. As is Donald Turnip. Someone has either abysmal or excellent aim, is what I'm saying.

And, here, to augment all the Snape.

Dammit, POTUS spoke at my high school this morning and I forgot to watch the livestream.
