Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

The feels, Kat. The feels.

As if I wasn't weepy enough today, CJ is bouncing between the doctor's office and getting a CT and he isn't answering my texts right now. I think he has a cyst under his spinal surgery scar. He is supposed to start the Fire Academy next week, which is VERY physically grueling. If he has to have surgery for the cyst, he will have to defer, which will break his heart. His father used to get horrible cysts that needed lancing the majority of the time but have also gotten to the point of horrible infection requiring hospitalization and surgery.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hey, anyone want a box of nail polish? This is box #2, started by Steph. I should be able to go to the post office this weekend, if not tomorrow, so let me know!

Coding and Sleeping

Crap. I screwed up in a huge way. I forgot to pay the water bill in December and they turned off the water while the check was literally in the mail. It's paid and the water is back on so we'll end up with a credit when the check gets there, but I can't believe I fucked up that badly. I honestly don't know how I recover from this. I have no idea what to do.

It's back on already Gud?? Then it's not a huge deal. Maybe take a look at your process, consider ebills and/or online bill pay? But it's a dumb mistake, not a huge awful problem.

I have no idea what to do

Are there long-term ramifications to anything other than your sense of competence? If not, do what I do when some personal ball-dropping makes me feel incompetent: kick the wall, swear, set another reminder on the phone/computer/tablet/refrigerator, remind yourself that at least you're not Donald Trump and are therefor a productive member of society.

edit: If it's a credit rating thing, perhaps you can get a waiver if this hasn't happened before.

I'll take a look, Jesse!

Gud, it is paid, the water is back on, the credit will cover the next month. As meara mentioned, maybe look at online bill pay. I know I've done that before, missing a bill, sending it late, and still getting shut off. It happens.

I was about to fuss that I hadn't heard from CJ and he just texted. The issue is superficial, so no lancing, no surgery, just antibotics. Maybe now my headache will go away.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I don't want to sound dismissive of your feelings, Gud, but I think what you do is let yourself off the hook. There's a reason we all keep giving ourselves gold stars for successfully adulting - there are a million little things to remember and take care of, and it feels like a major victory when you manage all of them successfully. And sometimes one falls through the cracks. Happens to all of us. But you figured it out, fixed the problem, no one came to any harm. So acknowledge that you made an error, promise yourself you'll do better next time, and let yourself off the hook.

Auto-pay saved my life. Or my credit, at least.

Gud, I know it's hard, but I vote giving yourself a break for the moment.

I'll take a look, Jesse!
