I have a cold! Not that I had plans before, but now I'm definitely just staying here.
My sister in cold-having-ness and staying home! Tim's bestie has a NYE party every year, but I am absolutely NOT getting people sick, so I'm staying home. (Bestie's wife is a quadriplegic and if she gets a respiratory infection, she has a VERY hard time coughing junk out of her lungs, so it can turn to pneumonia pretty quickly. So, while I'd feel bad if I got anyone sick, I *really* don't want to get her sick.)
I probably will have New Year's Steve, because my dad got me the first Captain America movie for Christmas (I don't know why I didn't have it before), so I'm going to kick back and watch it while Tim carouses with the bestie.
We went to a beach bonfire and now we are watching the annual Icelandic satire show. It's on every NYE from 1030 to 1130 and basically everybody watches it. It's hilarious even though we understand very little. And also, clearly, terrible as we'd been led to expect. After we are going up to the big church on the hill to light and watch more fireworks and drink champagne!
I think I'm fighting off a cold. My nieces and my mom were passing terrible things around, but I haven't fully succumbed yet. Granted, my plans tonight have always been to stay home and do nothing but read and watch TV, because I haven't spent much time relaxed at home for the last few months.
I have been out for toilet paper, booze, and some groceries. I'm now in my pajamas with laundry in the washer, and I don't plan to move far from the couch for the rest of the evening.
Actually, I'm not terribly hungry, so I think I'll skip it this year. Maybe tomorrow night.
I'll be watching Mad Max: Fury Road with a couple of friends tonight. And I got the ingredients for Moscow Mules, although that was as much an excuse to indulge my fondness for copper (post-Christmas half off mugs).
Oh, I have sparkling wine! I should put that in the fridge.
I am, of course, spending the evening vacuuming and disinfecting my kitchen shelves. It's time consuming!
I was supposed to go out and get prosecco today, but I decided I was too lazy and it was too cold outside. So, we'll be toasting with perry tonight. At least it is a super nice perry we had picked up while Christmas shopping.
I'm too full of cold meds of various kinds that I'm a little leery of mixing them with alcohol. So I may just have hot chocolate with a Peep gingerbread man and whipped cream.
DH wants to make Hot Toddies, which neither of us have ever had. If they turn out to be Hot Terribleness, we will fall back on Moscow Mules.
Teppy, that sounds like a good substitute for alcohol. Feel better!
