Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, I have sparkling wine! I should put that in the fridge.

I am, of course, spending the evening vacuuming and disinfecting my kitchen shelves. It's time consuming!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I was supposed to go out and get prosecco today, but I decided I was too lazy and it was too cold outside. So, we'll be toasting with perry tonight. At least it is a super nice perry we had picked up while Christmas shopping.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm too full of cold meds of various kinds that I'm a little leery of mixing them with alcohol. So I may just have hot chocolate with a Peep gingerbread man and whipped cream.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

DH wants to make Hot Toddies, which neither of us have ever had. If they turn out to be Hot Terribleness, we will fall back on Moscow Mules.

Teppy, that sounds like a good substitute for alcohol. Feel better!

Because books.

I have strep throat with new!, added chest congestion and coughing, and I'm in jammies on the couch. Both kids are out, the dog is snoring next to me, and I have food, movies, and chocolate. I'm sort of psyched, to be honest.

brillig

Boy, I feel like I should be sacrificing a small creature of some sort in thanks that I've only had some congestion so far this winter.

My cough sounds like a rusty old muffler that's more holes than metal. It's gross.

And I have a migraine on top of the cold (because why not? I assume leprosy is next), so I am tripping balls from all the meds in my system right now.

That sounds fantastic.

i'm sorry for the sicknesses! Feel better soon, y'all, and enjoy a restful evening.

Champagne (I am pretty sure it was made in California, but the label says Champagne, so I'll go with its self-identification) is in the fridge. One wall of cupboards emptied and vacuumed and wiped down with disinfectant; some of that refilled with clean and inventoried dishes. I have not cleared off and vacuumed the window - that seems like a slightly different task to me. One that needs doing, but maybe not today. Should probably start steaming things, as I'm starting to get hungry and do intend to start drinking before too long (wine, probably, I have a lot and it's easy).

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

We are celebrating at home with a roast chicken dinner and probably wine for the parents. Kids can have sparkling grape juice and then a movie together. Haven't picked it out yet. Low key. Christmas took up all my hosting energy for the end of the year.
