That's the one who was just looking for a friend, meara? Maybe that word doesn't mean what she thinks it means.
If this is so, I recommend taking her at her word and acting as a disinterested platonic friend, no matter how oblivious that requires you to be. She'll clearly find that infuriating.
Ugh, just found out a family friend is going home into hospice care. I have known her and her husband all my life, their kids are my age, so we spent a LOT of my youth together. The father died a year ago, he was my dad's best friend. The mom, P, had been in a horrific muni accident a couple of years back, dealing with cancer since July, and then got hit with pneumonia and aplastic anemia.
My heart breaks for the family - mom and dad gone just over a year from eachother. For me, every time I check my e-mail I'm terrified when I see a Caring Bridge update, knowing one of the next ones will say she is gone from this world. She is an AMAZING woman, as was her husband.

Yeah, I'm definitely on the "girl, if you were just my friend, you'd just fucking join me on the dance floor"

Pretty much my plan. After she left and texted about being upset, I was like "...if you wanted to dance you should've got out on the dance floor"
I'm trying to translate that into Newfinese, and I can't? Aeay=Away?
Hah, no, just a typo--it was "Come From Away"
Ah Suzi, I'm sorry for all who love This woman. It just hurts.
Flaring achy Achilles tendon means my plans to heft a hand-me-down treadmill up two flights of stairs are on hold. I think instead I'll go see a movie this afternoon.
lisah, that sounds delicious. I'd love the recipe.
I sent pictures of the recipe via fb messaging. Let me know if you can read it ok!
Pix, yikes!!! Poor kitty. Hope he's on the way to recovering. Thank goodness your landlady is on the ball with this.
Kitty isn’t improving. We’ve been referred to MR, which be happening on Tuesday. Just talked to landlord who has been thus far unable to get a line of credit to do the repairs. Our options may be either to move (which we can’t do, since no one will rent to us with six animals) or buy (which we can’t do -- no downpayment). So...we made a third option. We may be loaning her the money to do the repairs and deducting from our rent each month for the next year or so until it’s paid back. None of this is ideal. Dammit.
Oh Pix. I am so extremely sorry about the cat. So very sorry.
Ugh. Also, the loaning money for repairs seems overwhelming.
Thanks, Kat and everyone else who’s offered support and good wishes -- I’m sorry I’m all MEMEMEME right now and not much interacting with other posts. I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole situation. And yeah, loaning money is the best of a lot of bad options. We are still hoping it won't come to that and she will be able to get a line of credit by next week.
Wilson almost definitely has polyps in his nasal cavity (potentially ear drum) that will need to be surgically removed; the MRI will determine where and how serious the surgery will be.
Oh Pix! Big hugs to you and Drew. This all sucks so much. I'm sure your landlord is terribly upset too. I know you have a long history there. I am so sorry that all this is piled on you guys.
