So much craziness in the debate last night.
Trump wants to kill the families of terrorists? Cruz wants to carpet-bomb ISIS who he apparently thinks is camped outside of cities away from civilians? Ben Carson compared removing a tumor to killing civilians? Christie seems eager to shoot down Russian jets and Kasich wants to punch Russia in the nose?
How are we supposed to take them seriously?
And all this BS that nothing is being done to combat ISIS when Tikrit has been recaptured. Kobane has been recaptured after U.S. airstrikes basically flattened it. Iraqi forces are making process in Ramadi which is going to be nasty block by block city fighting so yeah it's going to take awhile and the city can't be flattened since there are civilians living there.
Progress in Syria is going to be a lot harder because we have no proxy ground force in Syria, but it seems obvious that the administration is working on a political solution between Assad and the rebels. That probably means the administration is open to Assad remaining in power with some sort of concessions so that the Syrian military with allies will end up fighting ISIS. That solution kinda sucks, but would probably be better than having the U.S. occupy Syria for what would probably be a long time fueling anti-western sentiment all the time.
It's a salad bar of bad choices, but so far I'm not seeing anything better than what the administration is currently doing even it they were slow to react initially.
