Thank you all for the ~ma. All appears to be well (although messy, and smelly), and is most likely a one-time deal brought about by stress (I've had workpeople in the house) and full anal glands. Course of treatment is an anti-inflammatory shot, a bath, and observation of Finn and his litterbox.
Finn seems in good spirits despite it all, and had his dinner.
Eddie is fascinated by whatever it is the vet used to clean Finn up and keeps trying to lick Finn's butt.

So I'm going to try to talk to division boss tomorrow (he's been travelling.) My boss has talked to him, and made her case and heard things she cannot share but 'please go talk to him.' I guess I should sent him an email tonight requesting to talk to him before I leave on vacation? Was going to sick out tomorrow, but now nsm.
