Well I am only part of the equation. I have money but can't take him in. So we still need to find a good home. I edited the post to make it public and shareable. I was worried about it being shared all over with no way to track comments happening elsewhere. But I believe Ginger would say "if someone can't read the instructions for emailing you they're not smart enough to care for Mr. Peabody anyway!!"
:-)
Oh, and if it comes to it as far as Mr. Peabody goes, I have connections at the UGA veterinary hospital. They may be able to find a home for him.
Hubs also used to have FB connections to a sort-of Underground Railroad that transports pets long distance. We helped get a beagle named Albert from Georgia to Vermont. (We took the Lexington, VA, to Strasburg, VA leg.) But he stopped using FB some time ago when he realized that it was taking over his life, so I don't know how good those connections are any more.
I would have taken him in a heartbeat, but we have Franny now, and Franny does not play well with other dogs. Someone will take him, though -- I believe that.
And thank you for what you're doing, Nanita!
Aw, that sounds rough, Fred. I hope it goes well for her.
I'm gonna have to go to bed soon. Not only I don't want to let go of checking the board, I'm mostly dreading to check the board tomorrow morning, when I'll wake up.
Be well, my 'istas. Take care of yourselves and one another. A line from a Hanukkah song came to my mind when I lit the candles tonight - each and everyone is a small light/together we are strong light.
And you are a sun.
I believe Zen mentioned that one of Ginger's friends may be taking on the good Mr Peabody. So let us hope first that someone he knows who knows him will be taking him in so they can grieve together.
I have a feeling that Mr. Peabody's fondness for rooting out real or imagined rodents from behind kitchen cupboards would make living with a rabbit a bad idea, or I'd take him right now. Walter loves Jack Russells almost as much as greyhounds.
Yes, I am in email with Zen. The last I heard from Zen none of the friends were particularly enthused but would maybe do it as a last resort. (ETA it would be GREAT if a friend did take him!)
I've told Zen to pass on my offer, as it will still be valid even if it's one of Ginger's local friends.
But Walter really loves Chile Pepper the mostest!
He does! But don't make him choose, there would be sad whining.
