Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, did I tell you guys about ordering hard-boiled eggs from the supermarket? They come all peeled and perfect!

So I just had a weird breakthrough while brushing my teeth. I had told my (acting) boss yesterday that I'm interested in the permanent job I'm currently acting in, and he was basically like, I don't think you're strategic enough. So, part of what I'm not strategic enough in is demonstrating my skill to my boss, and I know this. But it's also kind of true that I'm not the most strategic thinker in the world in the way that the head of the department should be. So as long as a new boss hired isn't actively insulting to me (apparently they are interviewing someone with five years of experience?????), I think I would be happy sticking to a more operational role, and I should just get over myself. Huh!

I really didn't need to be woken up by cramps at 4:30 am.

Went and got the laptop because I have shit to kick off and 2 meetings I shouldn't miss. Barely was convinced to shower before I went in. At least it was early.

I was thinking recently about how fundamentally a man cannot understand this. Regular pain that is bad enough to wake you up? That should be a problem to be treated! Instead it's just the cost of doing business with a uterus.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yup.

That's a good epiphany. 'Staying more operational" is a good phrase, I'm going to incorporate that into my career-discussions at work.

ETA I have packed my stuff to be ready to go to the gym after work. After running errands the last two days after work, maybe I should jut roll with it and make it work for me?

And a cost for something I never intend to use! Stupid wasteful business plan.

Glad to hear it, msbelle.

It's not a well designed system, sarameg.

You will all be glad to know that I turned off my fire before leaving the house this morning. And remembered my lunch. Red letter day in tamaraland.

brillig

It's always fun to figure out which business jargon best applies to you. Me, I can say I'm best at "customer experience" rather than the technical side of the job, ie, I'm good at explaining to non-techies how to maneuver around our program where as the young techies in the office just want to play with the code.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Had a really brutal therapy session this morning. I don't want to be at work now, but it's too early to drink, so here I am.
